October 2025 has arrived and it is begginging to look like fall is coming in fast. The leaves shall change, the darkness will creep in slowly each day, and the winds shall come to blow the leaves away. Mankind shall continue, as we adapt to the changing weather, mankind seems to understand, how to adapt and accept and adjust to it all. Many amazing things happen in life. There are many amazing people in the world of all colors, races and creeds and many more with many needs.
I was asked one day what is the best advice to give a youngster these days, well, some were surprised by my answer, but, I think it works. In my younger days , when I was five years old, my step-father who I always called Dad, was playing his guitar. I was watching and listening to him as he did. I was interested and drawn in by the musical talent he had, I would watch him and smile and sometimes just dance in place. So, after sometime, he asked me, if I wanted to try, I said sure and messed it all up. He looked at me when I finished and he told me, Son, You can do whatever you put your mind to, if you want it bad enough, Put your mind to it and follow through, be persistant and you can do anything! He was right in many ways, He taught me at 5 years old to read music, even though now many years later I can’t, I did then, because I wanted to. That same sentence of, Wanting something, putting my mind to it and doing it, sticks with me today. It stuck with me through my life and still, I go on. Thats what I tell the youngsters of today, pick a subject or item you enjoy, you love, learn it, persist with it, and you shall get it.
The second thing I tell many people, and I have learned from my life, while i was in the Military is a simple thing, but, very vital, to survival follks. I have been all over the world and when I say that, I basically mean it. Now I have been to Europe, I have been to the North Atlantic region, I have been to Bermuda and South America. All around you see, for I was U.S Navy. I learned all men, and women want the same things in life, we all want love, we all want respect, we all want to be known for who we are and we all want to be remembered when we depart. People are the same folks, no matter what country your from, what color your skin, what language you speak, we all want the same things, the only thing to remember is that no two go about getting it, exactly the same. Talk to people folks, be friendly, be kind, and learn from one another. Soak in life, soak in other’s experiences and words, and then make your choices. Don’t decide on one point or two, research it. If there are two sides to a question that are diversive and apart, and seem so distant from one another, listen to both sides, gather the facts, and then decide., for yourself. Also, when you do decide, remember it’s your decision, on what you believe, don’t force it on anyone else, be willing to discuss it yes, but, if someone objects, or gets angry, stop, and let it go, they have their rights also. respect that, and walk away, for there is no way you can change someone else, if they are stuck and believe they are right! So, walk away and live to fight another day!
Last advice, I believe it’s the best I have heard in a long time, given to some youngsters. Find something you love to do, and follow through. If you love to do art do it, if you love to do something and it feels right and natural and it becomes your job, then you are not working but, enjoying. As long as you enjoy your job, your hobby, you work it out of pleasure or joy, don’t give it up, for life is long and one way but short in another, and working is what all humankind must do. We have to pay to survive, to eat, to home ourselves and more, to provide for our families and children too. You might as well do it, doing what you love most to do. It makes life easier.
