The Fall of American Values: A Call to Action

Good Morning to All. Today is March 4th,2025, sun is up and the temp is 24 degrees today. My back is messed up again, in a back belt for now. As I age my back will get worse and there is not much more I can do about it. It’s something I have learned to be careful with.

The news I usually turn on daily is off today. I didn’t turn it on after, hearing that Trump wants to pull all support for Ukraine. If this happens and he shuts it down, Ukraine will become Russian period. Putin will not quit folks. The loss of Ukraine as a fully independent country, would be horrible for the world. I pray for the Ukrainines daily, they need all the support they can get.

So much is happening in the political world in America these days. That we need to step back and reevaluate what is going on. Many have thrown their hands up and given up on stopping Trump and his autocratic ways. IT is wrong to do that folks, if we as a nation, allow Trump. We as a Nation must do what we can to stop him too. Checks and balances need used now. If Congress is going to sit there and rubber stamp all Trump does, America will not be America anymore.

That said I now move on to trying to survive. Trump tries to kill the Education Department, Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, if this is fine for everyone or not? DO the American people really want no Education Department? No Medicare or Medicaid? Do you want to lose Social Security for real? Wake up because it is coming.

Any American, who works for a living must understand, you paid into Social security ever day you worked. Medicare and Medicaid keeps you alive as you age and helps to slow costs. Money is tight these days. Without a backstop, Americans will free fall into old age and die poor. Many may not afford to even get buried. That my friends would mean you end up on potter’s hill and forgotten. And I think Americans would like to be remembered by family and friends, not forgotten.

The seriousness of the current situation in America, leads me to believe, Americans have lost their way under Trump. We are being pulled back away from the world. Isolated, and alone, no nation can survive. Zelinsky the Ukrainian Leader is correct, the large beautiful oceans we have, will not protect us forever. There will come a time when aggressors, like Russia, China and North Korea will attack. They question is when?

Long Ago now, America’s for-fathers, Washington, Adams, Franklin, Jefferson and more, all warned us. We would only have a Republic as long as we defend it and nuture it. They were right. As it sits now America, is on the brink of being destroyed from within. Sadly, we have allowed the Autocrat, Donald J. Trump to become President again. This time, he plans on destroying all from within. It is a sad state of affairs in my book.

Staples that have been parts of America, since it’s beginning are starting to feel it and the cracks are showing. The Foundation the Constitution was based on are under attack. Freedom of Speech and Free Press, are being controlled now. If you bad mouth Trump or his Administration you are cast aside. All of a sudden, Trump is like a king instead of a President. This is not what America and it’s Founding Fathers wanted or want currently. The sadness of the moment is unbelievable. To see America and it’s people being led to destruction and damages beyond repair is too much.

Measles is back now, what disease will be next? America is isolating itself. We are arguing with Mexico and Canada why? China I can understand of course. Trump is kow- towing to Russia and Putin also, why? You can say what you will, about Joe Biden and his Administration. He didn’t kiss Putin’s ass like Trump does. we are in serious, sad shape now.

We have maintained peace in our own way in the world. Hundreds of years, now, we have been the steady hand behind the tiller of life and justice. It has all been pushed aside, and we are falling into a pit of despair and loneliness as a nation. The more isolated Trump makes us the more vulnerable we become. For no man or nation is an island unto itself. America is no difference folks!

As I have stated before in my blogs, other empires have risen and died out overtime. The American Indians, the Romans, Aztecs, Incas,Germans and Japanese all died out. Each for their own reasons of course, but the American Empire is now being killed from within. Is it really America’s time to die, or can it be saved? You tell me folks!. How far will American’s allow themselves to be dragged down, and destroyed from within, before we react as a country? Or will Americans just sit back and take it?

I find many things in America I love, but, I also know we have our faults. We are too easy going, we are far too kind in many ways. Yet, we vote and the Majority rules. While i believe in the system we have in place, we are forgetting to use the checks and balances here. Unless American’s step up and stop Trump, we will be Autocratic by the end of his term. If that happens, you can bet, Putin will have won. America will not be a power house anymore. we will have fallen under the communistic sword so to say. Has America run it’s course now, are we done? You tell me America, do you like independence, and free speech? Do you believe in the Constitution and the Bills of Rights? Or, is America ready to be controlled by others?

Socializing Challenges for Seniors in Westborough, MA

March 1st, 2025, Morning has broken here in Westborough, Mass. The day is overcast so far and 44 degrees as of 9:04 am. Like many days, I have many questions and opinions of my own. Yet, while my political opinions do not match everyone, but, this blog is not that.

Westborough being the size it is and with the population it does currently has wants to make improvements. I get it, for every village, town or city wants to get bigger and collect more taxes. It’s nothing new in American lore, so to say.

Here in Westborough, Ma., there is a growing senior population, of which I am one. There are now, 3 55 plus communities here in town. The price range is 300 grand and up depending on which one you chose. And most seniors tend to like condos, it seems.

The biggest problem with this is, simple, Seniors really just have certain things to do in town. YOu choices are the Library, The Senior Center, or Gyms. Then you have the bars and taverns in town.

The Taverns and Bars are ok if you are under 55 and younger. Or if you have a lot of money to blow. If your a Senior like me, you pay your bills first and secondly, you save your money. Bars are crowded with the 20’s, 30, and 40’s, for age ranges. They are geared to that age range of course. Not for the 55 plus crowd. The other problem is if your like me, a non-drinker, you know better.

There are no Movies in town to go watch. No, Social Dances for Seniors, or meeting places if you are senior and single. Of course if you ask around, people tell you to Volunteer for something. So, you can do that with such things as the Food Bank and such. Yet, while you get to work some and interact some, the chances are slim you will meet someone, to date.

So, what does one do is, your a widower or widow in Westborough, Mass. and 55 and up? Where do you go to socialize? Well some say go shopping and you may run into somebody and start chatting that way. The truth is, if you approach a stranger that way, they will look at you strangely. Casual conversations. do work sometimes. Un;less your like me. At 69, I keep to myself, and i talk to very few. Publicly approaching a woman for me is scary. In today’s world, many are lonely, not only the elder community but, all ages. The older you get, the harder it is to do, we get stuck in our ways. In America the loneliness syndrome is real folks, especially on the eats coast of America here and it is growing. I know many think, I don’t know what I am saying and it is easy to fix. It’s not folks !

While I love life, I love adventures, I love music, I love having fun. It doesn’t stop the loneliness Syndrome from hitting me. It doesn’t stop it from hitting anyone else either. I have seen it in stores, even in Taverns and Bars here in Westborough, even in the mall in Marlboro. People sit alone, they don’t talk or approach. today’s society, is scared of saying something wrong, being rejected. It is kind of crazy isn’t it?

I have learned, not to approach women. They have made themselves inaccessible or approachable. They put up walls, they avoid eye contact. They are very fussy, and place limits on what men they talk to. Most men are doing the same. Why, well it comes down to some simple thoughts and ideas.

  1. No one wants to be someone’s piggy bank folks.
  2. No one wants someone who doesn’t care about themselves, appearances count
  3. No one wants a negative person as a mate or partner
  4. No one wants to have someone force their way into their life
  5. Politics is playing a large factor these days too, especially since Trump was reelected.
  6. Religious or not religious also plays a role here
  7. People have to watch what they say and to whom they say it
  8. Anger is huge in this country now a days

My question is this folks, how do you overcome, approachment, apprehension or fear? How does one overcome being scared of being taken, for you money or property? How do we as Senior Citizens 55 and up, overcome all of the above? It is beyond me, for sure. I try, but, in the end, it does not seem to work for me.

Finding places to go do things for the 55 plus crowd is rough also. Some of us Bowl for fun now a days. A few, play pool. Many of us like to walk for exercise also. We read and we may write. Build Puzzles at home alone and stare at our televisions every night. We know, you shouldn’t stay at home alone. Yet we do so out of lack of places to meet those our age range. It’s uncomfortable for a Senior citizen 55 and up to sit among younger folks. We feel we don’t fit in. Is that hard to understand? I think not. So, I ask, what does one do, if you are 55 plus, or like me 69? Where do we go what do we do? I ask this, and usually get the same answers I mentioned above in this post. So, I ask one more time, where do the senior citizens meet one another? Remember, I am 69 now, and I have heard all the advice above i mentioned. Is there a better way to meet someone in my age range in Westborough, Mass or the area? Please do not tell me dating apps, been there, done that, waste of money in my opinion. Just asking here.

Understanding Senior Dating and Loneliness Syndrome

Good Morning all, it is Sunday Feb. 23rd, 2025. It’s a whole 35 degrees outside and sunny today here, in Westborough, Massachusetts. Usually most people who read my blogs, think all I do is politics in them. Well, this one is on a different subject, to consider for most.

I am doing this one on what the Government, has publicly stated, is the Loneliness Syndrome. That is real in America. My take on this subject, will be based on 55 plus, Seniors and the dating world today.

I live as many know in a 55 plus community. Now according to all people who know the population here. The women out number the men by at least 3 to 1. Which makes the men living here, basically the minority. So, that said, if like i have been told, there are 40 Single men living here. That makes, a whole lot more single women living here. 3 to 1 means at least 120 women to the 40 men, currently.

Senior dating in such a community among community members, is not well looked upon. At least that is what I was told when I moved in or shortly after. So, I made a decision not to date anyone living here. I thought well it is better that way and safer. Is it really, I don’t know.

Now in general, I hear women complain about men not approaching them on a daily basis. I know women are taught at a young age as girls, not to approach men. They are taught that men should do the approaching period. So they do not attempt, to do so. Now, this is fine, until you realize, the men are not doing it for some reason.

Ever wonder why ladies? So lets break a few myths, or ideas or thoughts here. You may, find the answers you seek in this, for I have viewed it all.

  1. Women set very high standards for the men they date. And men, get the feeling they are not wanted because of that.
  2. Men have some of the same worries that women have, in the dating world.
  3. Like women, men like to be respected, and they worry about finances too, both sexes do.
  4. Men do not like to be taken for money, any more then a woman does.
  5. Men do not like being used anymore than women do.
  6. Women expect men to be able to read signals and understand when they are interested. It not necessarily so, ladies.
  7. Men hesitate to approach a woman for many reasons. As the same applies in return.
  8. One unsure, lack of confidence.
  9. Two, scared of rejection and not sure if they can handle it.
  10. Three is simple, they aren’t sure of how to do so. Either due to lack of experience or what would work.
  11. We sometimes, know we will end up in the friendship bin, so we don’t go there.
  12. Let me say this, in todays society. Men are frowned upon if they approach too fast, too slow or in the wrong way. We know we can be ignored or worse.
  13. Senior Dating while it should be fun, can be rough. men and women both know, we are taking a chance, if we put ourselves out there.
  14. So, what do you do, if your lonely, and want a relationship? Good question right!
  15. I have looked into this and what I got back from many women is the following:
  16. Volunteer in an Organization in town.
  17. Join The Senior Center
  18. Join The library
  19. Get involved in Politics and Town business.
  20. All good ideas, but, not a good way to find someone really.
  21. Join a Gym or Health Club, at 69 not sure that would work.
  22. Dating Apps, like Zoosk, Match, and others. Cost and not always honest.

Now, I have tried some dating apps, like Zoosk, Match, Plenty of Fish, and such. Let me give you my results and see what you think.

A) The first one i met was a woman, who was very healthy and loved to walk miles a day. Took three dates to go no thank you. She didn’t match her profile, in my book, And not my type.

B) The second one I met I took to lunch in her town at a diner. What I found was, she didn’t look like her profile pic first off. Secondly, she was far too busy to be dating.

C) The third woman I met was a nice person and we went to dinner together. We enjoyed a fine meal chatted, but there was no chemistry there. Common right, happens. we even paid dutch.

D) The fourth woman I met off a dating App was kind, polite and a good person. we had a meal on me, chatted and laughed and said goodbye. I am not a religious man and she is religious. So, matching is a problem.

As you can see, the other problem with Senior Dating is matching, age, interests and more. All of us want to date or be with someone we can like, enjoy and do things with. By doing that we all, tend, to get to know each other better and go forward. if we have nothing in common, no physical chemistry or attraction, well, it doesn’t work.

I talked to one woman, I met, and she told me she is in her 60’s, never married. When I asked why, she told me she was too fussy, and wouldn’t go there. we laughed when she said it, but, I could, tell, it bothered her. Sadly, many people of both genders do this. What no one gets is even in today’s world, one answer comes to mind. Compromise! We don’t want to, so we end up alone.

Any good relationship, takes compromise folks, and that is on both sides. some of us will go to Church, even if we don’t now. Some of us will accept a smoker and some won’t. Some will take a drinker and some won’t. The problem isn’t what we won’t take or accept, it is making it clear up front and being honest. Some things many will accept, like pets, children, and more. Others will stand firm, and state they won’t. It’s rough in America, in the dating scene, but even rougher, when your a Senior. Why, because you are set in your ways, you do not wish to change. Until you do and compromise in someway, loneliness will be your companion.

For me I may, have made a mistake in saying I wouldn’t date anyone, in my condo complex. But, if I back up, and change that how will it affect me and those around me? There are many factors one has to consider. Mainly is it worth it to try, and secondly, what happens if it fails? Then, I have to face the backlash that can happen, where I live. I have always thought if a relationship breaks up, it is always blamed on the man. If that happens, then it spreads through the female population quickly, and bam, your an outcast. Maybe I am wrong, time shall tell.

The Future of Social Security and Veteran Benefits

Saturday Feb. 22nd 2025. Good Morning everyone! As the news rolls on about the cuts of government employees, and more, I shake my head. I ask, when will Trump bring down food prices, when will he provide healthcare, to all. When will he keep his promises he made when he ran for election? I know now he won’t and he doesn’t care.

But, that is another issue for the political world to solve now. we are stuck with it, and the Trump backers and MAGA crowd will suffer like the rest of us.

Lets discuss, something else here, for I tire of it all and the bad news only gets worse. Lets talk about those of us, 55 and up, or older. Lets talk about how we are going to take care of ourselves and those we love, as we age. Social Security it looks like is going to be maxed out and fail within 10 to 20 years at best. So who pays for us senior citizens when they steal it away from us? How do we survive? Do our children take care of us, or does the government help? Any ideas folks?

What of the Veteran’s who served our country like myself, got injuries on duty and get Disability Payments monthly? Will we continue to get our payments to live on monthly. What of our health care we earned and benefits, do they stay or get better? I ask, because i am like many, I live on both social security and disability payments. If they get shut down or taken, I have nothing left, I am rated 100 percent unemployable. What then, where do I turn?

Next thing, I worry about is the fact I am a 69 year old widower. Living alone in a 55 plus community. So I have to provide, for myself, gas prices are rising, medical cost is up, food is up. where do I turn if my monthly checks get cut and does anyone care? bad enough I have six herniated discs in my spine and PTSD, right. I learned long ago now, I have to live cheap and hang on to survive. These are my concerns at 69 years old. Imagine what your children or grandchildren, will go through when they get older. They will have no Social Security. And no place to turn either. What then, folks?

As I age, I pray each month my checks come in. Just so I can pay for a place to live and eat and stay warm. Imagine what will happen when Social Security is shut off, or Veteran’s Benefits are cut. Imagine when you receive bills from hospitals in the thousands of dollars and can’t pay them. Or you have to go to food pantries to eat, or senior Centers to beg for a meal. That is where Trump is pushing America to, folks. When you see it happen to your relatives, your children or family members or yourself, you will understand. You won’t cheer for Trump then.

The Unemployment lists are growing as people are fired and laid off. Food Prices are rising each day, Trump’s tariffs will raise your taxes too. he or Musk do not care folks, they have billions to live on, you don’t. IT’s a sad predicament for the average American isn’t it. Some will live high on the hog so to say. The average and below will starve and die off ultimately. We don’t have the billions Trump and Musk have, and they are getting richer from it all too.

I ask now one thing to all who Voted for Trump, did you elect Musk too? He wasn’t on any ballot I saw! Why take away Social Security, we paid into it, why mess with Veteran’s Benefits and Medicare and Medicaid? Why attack the lowest class or average American trying to survive? Explain please, go after the rich, tax them.! They have billions, have them pay more and help out the poor and average, please. Stop killing jobs, stop the rising food prices, rising rents and home costs and utilities cost. Let Americans earn a living and be healthy too. Lower Medical Cost, medical bills are crazy in this day in age, they need to be brought into check. Don’t do it out of the average or poor’s pockets or wallets, your killing Americans. Wake up folks! Leave Veteran’s Benefits alone. Leave Social Security Alone, Leave Medicare and Medicaid alone, leave the Senior citizens something we can survive on.

The Impact of Trump’s Leadership on American Society

This morning, I awoke and made my coffee, and started my laptop and received an email. that said my blog post was just an Anti_Trump post and rant. I found it stupid, silly and insulting that some simpleton does not understand what is happening.

To help these individuals, who think, all I do is rant about Trump, lets discuss why, I would do so. I have many reasons, and I will list them here for these people.

  1. Trump’s Tax Breaks for the rich in his first Administration, helped only himself and his rich cronies.
  2. Trump was laughed out of the United Nations in his first term and never returned.
  3. Trump called for and assembled a mass MAGA Rally in Washington, DC during the end of his First Presidency, Jan. 6th 2021.
    • Trump refused to conceded that election when he lost by over 80,000 votes and the electoral college too. No President has ever attacked the Capital in this way.
    • The damages occurred in Washington, DC on Jan. 6th, totaled millions and destroyed the capital, and Trump never paid for the repairs. The American Citizens had to.
  4. I remind all Trump backers and MAGA people they went to jail for a good reason and belong there.
  5. Now lets deal with the current Trump term. 98 percent of Trump’s Executive Orders are just an attack on all Joe Biden did as President. There are no grounds for them.
  6. Firing of Justice Department Officials who prosecuted The Cases against Trump, is all revenge and anger and retribution only. And it is wrong!
  7. Donald J. Trump is bought and paid for by Elon Musk and Putin of Russia. Musk speaks and people listen, more than they listen to Trump himself.
  8. The economy is not being fixed it is being destroyed by firings and job cuts by Trump. He isn’t dropping food costs, he is not helping the economy. Unemployment numbers are soaring in America.
  9. Trump and Musk are attacking Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and Veteran’s Benefits. Why?
  10. Trump is dismantling the Department of Education, for what reason? And how soon will American’s learn there is no guidance for their children to learn from? It is coming! You had an education department to help with your education growing up, now what will our children have?
  11. Trump has placed all his own followers in Administration positions,While this is normal for an incoming President to do, firing all lawyers who prosecuted said Trump is not right!
  12. Being fired for doing the job you were assigned to do, is not right.
  13. Trump has pardoned all his MAGA followers who participated in the JAN. 6th attack. Why?
  14. As can be seen on TV, these days, the man running the White House is not Donald J. Trump, it is Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, who bought the White House and presidency.
  15. Watching, Musk and Trump in the Oval Office, was like watching a ventriliquist and his dummy working an act. Musk talked Trump barely responded and all he did was agree.
  16. The American economy is not being repaired, it is being torn asunder as prices rise. Trump promised to fix it fast.
  17. Deportations are being done, but illegally, and without any empathy. While I agree illegal migrants must go it must be done in a legal humane way. We look like Nazi Germany doing it like this.
  18. Why attack, Veteran’s Benefits, Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare? You are removing the benefits of those who served our country and the elderly too. Why?
  19. As Musk increases his fortune, and Trump too. How many American Veteran’s and elderly will suffer without food, health care and the money we live on?
  20. Musk is not an American born citizen, why is he allowed to tear into our private data? He was not elected.

I can go on and on here with this list of what is happening. It is not a rant against Trump, it is an angry American, speaking of the destruction, anger and corruption, Trump, has brought. While senior citizens lose the income they need to survive, and the healthcare they need. What is being done to help then survive? What of the Veteran’s who were injured and served Honorably and earned their benefits? Who will pay the medical bills for these people and house and feed us.? We paid into Social Security, we earned our Veteran’s Benefits, why are they trying to take them? It’s not right folks!

In the end let me say this, why is the only response by MAGA Followers always the same? Never do they, address the real issues and problems. They don’t address Medicare or Medicaid costs and seniors. They don’t address the taking away of Social Security benefits or how to stabilize Social Security for the future. They cry it’s all a Trump Rant, it’s not folks. Sadly, they are so brainwashed, and blind they can not see, nor can will they believe what is happening. The spell of MAGA and the cult Trump created will break. It will do so, when, what he is doing starts to take the food, healthcare, away from them. When they have to start paying for their senior family members care. Or when their children, have no guidance for the education. When the price of eggs keeps going up and food gets too high and people start starving trying to survive. It’s coming.

Let me finish with this for a for instance, for all to consider. Donald J. trump has never served in the military, he avoided it. Secondly, Donald J. Trump has never had an American Woman fora wife, why is that? Answer the simple questions first to get to the bigger ones later folks. In the end, as time goes on in Trump’s second term you can expect certain things. The economy will take as inflation rises. The cost of deporting so many people will get your wallet. The killing of the education and Justice Departments will kill Justice and more. Musk will get richer and Trump will too. The Average American, will pay more and have less. Trump doesn’t care, as long as his coffers grow with cash.

Navigating Grief: A Journey of Love and Loss

Good Morning all! It’s Feb. 18th, 2025. Damn cold outside folks, and I am wishing these days, that the warmer weather would rush in and save us. Yet I still live in Massachuetts here, and I have always been a Northeast Coast American, funny how that is huh?

Well, as a Widower, who lost his partner in crime lol, in August of 2021, I can honestly say I miss her more than anything in my life. we cried, we laughed, we danced, we cooked and we even talked about the books. We did what she loved for the years I was with her and never once did I complain, of anything.

When cancer appeared in her, I did it all with her. The Doctor Visits, the updates, the appointments, the Chemo and Radiation, and in the end the Immune therapy she choose. I would get up each day shave shower, get dressed and off to the hospital I would go to sit with her daily, talk to her and watch tv. Then when she went into a Rehab facility I did the same, day after day, staying with her. Even when she couldn’t talk anymore, couldn’t feed herself anymore, I was there to feed her the best I could and talk to her. And we suffered through the COVID years too.

One day, I went into the convalescence home, and found her trying to eat, by herself. Her arm could no longer bring the food to her mouth. she was like a statute, frozen and no one was there to feed her. I fed her, and she relaxed and fell asleep. I then turned around and walked down to the Administrator’s Office of the facility and knocked on the door. I asked the Administrator why my wife was not being fed. And she answered they had too many patients and were doing their best. I then asked the administrator how long my wife had left on her Medicare, she told me three days. I said ok, that’s enough, call Hospice I am taking her home. The next thing I got was the Administrator trying to convince me, to pay her 350 dollars a day, for my wife to be there. No Thank you, Hospice showed up and I set it up and she was home the following day, with me.

Ten days later, she finally passed in our home, comfortably with myself and my sister to help . We brought her family in to say goodbye to her and allowed them to visit her. The final time they came was within a week of her passing. As they visited, my sister and I stood in the next room, and heard it all. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing at first, and when I did, I just shook my head. I had heard my wife’s sister and my wife’s daughter, sitting there discussing the items they wanted when she died. I want that vase, I want that item there, I want the jewels I gave her as presents back, etc. I couldn’t believe it. I was in shock and so was my sister. Yet, I didn’t toss em out or bother to try, I knew it would affect my wife if I did, I knew she could still hear them, and would know.

When she passed, on August 10th, 2021 in the late afternoon hours, I called her daughter to tell her and she told me, don’t call the Hospice People till I get there and if you do, don’t let them take her away until I get there. I agreed. The daughter showed up before the Hearst for the body and she stood over her mother, thanking her for all she had done for her and said goodbye. when they took my wife away I could not watch it, I stepped outside and walked around looking the other way. I cried to myself and knew I would be hurting for a long time.

When we buried my wife, it was August 20th, 2021. I stood there in a black suit and tie and cried, as my world crumbled for me. I had no one left and I knew it. I was lost and had no idea what I should do next. I knew I could not keep the home we had shared for 28 years, it had to be cleaned out and all sold. So, I started working on that when alone and broke down and called my sister back for help. I also called a Real Estate Agent to put the home up for sale. It would take my sister and I and her boyfriend from August to December to clean the home out, having Estate Sales.

Near the end as we were clearing the home out I recieved a text on my phone from my wife’s daughter. I was shocked. It contained a list of items she wanted, and my wife’s sister wanted now that my wife was gone. It listed games, books, glass items, tables, chairs and jewels. and much more. I couldn’t believe it, but there it was on my phone in text messages. as we cleared the house I set aside all they listed and more. On the final day of clearing the house out, we set all of it in the driveway for the daughter to pick up. She arrived with a SUV and a trailer to carry it all. I didn’t want to see or talk to her, so my sister’s boyfriend did it. She still wanted in the house and I refused.

During the Estate Sales, we sent the daughter a message and told her not to show up for the sales, and to keep her children away also. Well she didn’t listen. She sent her 16 year old daughter in, with a bag full of photographs of her mother and I. The 16 year old wandered into the garage as the sale was happening, holding the bag and looking for me. When, someone told me I rushed to her and comforted her and accepted the photographs and she wanted in the house, so I allowed it. My sister saw her and told her she was not supposed to be there. The child stayed and I walked with her as she pointed out things she wanted of her grandmothers. I helped her box them up, and when she was ready I carried them to her car, and put them in her backseat. I hugged her and told her to take care of herself and to drive carefully on the way home.

The child drove home, and told her mother I kicked her out of our house. She lied and of course the mother believed it. All of a sudden my sister and I were evil people, to my wife’s daughter and her kids. The child lied and there would be no changing my wife’s daughter’s mind. After almost 30 years, and my wife’s death, and all I had been through, with the daughter and her children and all the money I gave for their educations, I was cast out as an evil man who threw her daughter out. No questions asked of course. just, bye.

I took the daughter off of my cell phone, blocked her phone number and her text, after numerous rants on my cell phone. I have not talked to the daughter or my wife’s grandchildren since. The sad part is, it is all based on a 16 year old girl’s lie. But, I can’t change it, so I live alone and mind my own is all I do. Am I wrong for doing so? I don’t think so, and it was far too emotional for me to experience and live through. So, I walked away and never turned back.

If my wife had seen it and heard it all, she would have been one pissed off woman. I thank God she didn’t see it or hear it. I loved my wife more then anything in the world, the disappointment she would have had over it all would have killed her, before her cancer. I miss her terribly and always will, I have pictures of her and my life time together in my home, along side the pictures of the parents that raised me also. I have the memories of the days of laughter, the days of walking, the days of dancing and romancing. I have the memories of our musicals we shared at Good Speed, the concerts we attended at Tangle Wood, and more. These I keep close to my heart forever more. I pray each day and night my wife is resting peacefully, and that she never learns of what happened once she passed. I hope to see her again, when I pass and get buried with her.

As time goes by, the memories remain. They make me smile at times and cry at times, but they keep me going. I know my wife would want me to carry on the best I can and for me to be happy again. I search for that happiness, and hope I can find it once more. I know I am old now, at 69, and as we age it is hard to find a new partner in crime, for companionship and more. I shall just do the best I can, and hold the memories dearly forever.

Navigating Aging: The Challenge of Companionship

As a senior citizen these day in America, I find that many like to ignore us, and many have an attitude about the seniors these days, unless they are related to you. Aging is a natural occurrence folks, we all do it. What we tend to do as we age is be self-reliant and we get set in our ways and others don’t always agree with how we feel or what we do.

I know as we age, we tend to stay away from others, and choose friends and family to be around. It is easier that way, and they tend to put up with and tolerate us better. we learn as we age we had our highs and bright spots. I know for me, I have been there and back, but as I age now, I also know the possibilty of finding a female partner again is slim to none. I am a realist if nothing else, so I am handling being alone well, in my mind.

The hardest part of aging, is really, losing the one you love and having to stay here on your own. You lose the company, companionship and caring, you lose the one person you wanted to do things for and with. You lose the support and love they gave you in return. So, we all go through it I would guess, just it is not fun to do. So we make the best of it, by, doing for ourselves, and carrying on the best way we can, alone.

I know for me what I miss most is the intimacy of a relationship, with a female. The closeness, the interactions not only physically but mentally and emotionally too. So, I basically hitch up my pants so to say each day and carry on alone the best I can. Sometimes I may be happy, sometimes I may be sad and somedays, I may be indifferent to all around me. I don’t show it and i think most my age don’t also, we hide it behind a smiles, a laugh, and play the part of the happy camper everyday we can. Why because if we are hurting in anyway, we do not wish to braodcast it to those around us, we don’t wnat to impose, be a burden or bother to anyone else. We work overtime to be self=sufficient and stand on our own until we can’t. we keep the attitude of never surrendering as long as humanly possible. It’s all a part of life, in the elderly community we find ourselves in these days at my age.

We begin to realize we are old, and people fear aging. You shouldn’t but we do, it is all a natural occurrence in a human beings life. The normal flow of life is always getting closer to our ending and knowing it is coming. we prepare by saving money, and material things we wish to pass on to our loved ones. we get life insurance in case we pass. That way when we do, we have paid our way to our own resting place we wish to be in. We leave behind wills or trusts, telling those we love what our final resting place will be, and the funds to put us there. A process occurs when you get to the age of knowing, you can’t live forever, no one does.

We may voice opinions on politics, religion, or other subjects we have interest in. We may slow down and play card games, or dominos or such games, trying to keep our menatl abilities active and in shape, or we may run out and play light sports, to stay physically in shape the best we can. It’s natural although some don’t because they do surrender to it and pass more quickly.

I know for me, I have fallen into a daily routine I do, because I must. I do wake up a certain time, I do take pills and medications I need daily. I watch the news or play on my laptop online. I shop as needed and go to Doctors as scheduled. I am non-religious so churches are not my thing. I may build a puzzle, read a book, chat online or watch tv. When the weather is decent I walk a lot, to stay in shape is all and stretch my legs. I may go fishing in warmer weather, or try pickle ball, but I try to not to over do at anything. I have found moderation is the way to go in what I do or what I eat also. I search for stability, comfort, and enjoyment. If I am wrong for doing so, well that’s life, you do you, I do me is what I say.

In closing, I have found out, that the hardest part of aging is the loss of your companion, lover and friend you married. All of a sudden they are not there to talk to, to lean on, to communicate with, to cuddle with or to laugh with. You find yourself being an island unto yourself, with no assistance anymore. That my friends is lonely and sad, just ask me. You begin to fade slowly and you know it is happening and your instinct is to fight it of course, it is natural. We all do it don’t we?

I wish at times I had a crystal ball to tell me the future and how long I have left on this planet. I am closing in on the ages of my paternal and maternal grandfathers, who passed at 73 and 70 respectfully. So, by that I know, that anything can happen at anytime, and I am right to have a Trust and Will. Never in my life have I imposed on anyone, been a burden to anyone and I will not start now. The other thing one finds out as we age is simply, it is harder the older you get, to find a companion, lover, and the longer you are a widow or widower, you realize, matching with anyone else is basically, that much harder. You are set in your ways, you like what you like, and you dislike what you dislike, period. So, even if you use dating apps online, there is no way for many of us to trust them, and end up happy, due to using them. I find many want you for your money, for added financial help, or to use you for one purpose or another. There is no way, you can just find someone, who isn’t scared, or looking to gain something from you. So, I just do what I have as normal, I am me for who else can I be! I, be myself, I try to laugh, have fun and enjoy life the best I can, and if that doesn’t work for finding a companion, lover or friend than I shall be fine.

Navigating Life after Military Duty: A Veteran’s Perspective

IT is now Sunday again, today is Febuary 16th, 2025. The weather has turned to snow here in Westborough, Mass, overnight, mixed with rain and ice through today it seems. As all who live here in the North East of the United states know, this is not unusual for us at all. Some of us actually survived the Blizzard of December 1978, and lived to talk about it. For me December 28th, 1978 and that blizzard was the day, I entered the United States Navy, and was sent to Great Lakes, Ill. for Boot Camp.

I actually found myself growing up in The Navy at the time because I was immature still when I entered it. Boot Camp taught me to be more responisible for my own actions. I think I did ok. I passed Boot Camp, I passed A School, went to my first sea going command back then, it was The USS Dahlgren DDG-43. I would serve on Dahlgren, then shore duty, then the USS Monoghelia AO-178, and in the end, a very short time aboard the USS Pounce LPD 15. Each ship I served on, was different because each ship takes on the personality of it’s Captain and it’s officers, not the crew so to say. We follow orders in the US Services no matter what branch we are in. As a Engineer, a Boiler Technichan in the Navy we were always the first onboard for deployments and the last to go home after them. Our duty was the engineering plants that kept the ships we served on going and ready at all cost. We did so well, on those I served on, for the times I was on them. No we weren’t perfect, yes we made mistakes all people do, but in the end, we did what Uncle Sam asked us to do, Protect and Defend the UNited States of America and our interests around the world. I am proud of it, and anyone who says they don’t think it is a great thing, can go to hell. Without those Service Members in serve in all our branches, there would be no United States today. The saddest part of today’s world is the dismantling, the rearranging, the changes in the U.S. and it’s military today. When I served there was no such thing asa Stress Card, what the hell is the shit in Boot Camp. You either make or break in Boot Camp kids, you don’t stay if you can’t make it they put you out. Why would anyone invent a Stress Card for recruits in Boot Camp is beyond me.

Anyway, as time went for me, I did leave the Navy and I accummilated 16 years of Service time in my life. I also got injuried and became a Disabled Veteran while in and on active duty, doing my job. Today, the Veteran’s Administration is my place for help as needed, and support for all I do in my life. I am very Proud and wear my Navy Hats everywhere I go. The U.S. Military is needed folks by our country and those who do serve are proud to do so, I say. Although there are like any other place in the world, bad parts and people in it. Ultimately, they get sorted out and end up discharged for one reason or another in the end. It is all a part of military service, you tow the lines laid out, or you get out. The smart ones who do not like the military and who signed up volunteerily know in the end they must complete their contract, under Honorable Circumstances ro lose all benefits they could earn or should have earned. That is life folks in the military as we say, one has to earn a Honorable Discharge period.

That said, I have mine from three Branches, US Army, US Army National Guard and the US Navy. Thats three folks, and that wans’t easy to do. The story of how that happened is one, no one will ever truly know except me. I will just say, I never surrendered, until I had no choice, I wanted to make 20 years, but came up short, due to six herniated discs in my spine, after a fall down a Navy Ship Ladder of 25 steel rungs. I live in pain daily, and sometimes can’t sleep, and sometimes can’t walk much, but I push on, I am now going on 70 in another 11 months. One thing I can say, I saw the world folks, the Navy does that for you, as well as feeds you well cares for your health, and shows it all to you.

I did Europe many times, from England to France To Spain, To Italy and more including Germany. I went to The North Atlantic and Amsterdam, I went to South America and every country around it. I spent time in The Virgin Islands too. I learned something about people in general, no matter where they come from, no matter color, race, religion, beliefs, all want respected, all want loved and all can be welcoming to Americans. At least that is my experience around the world. We laughed, we cried, we met many different cultures, nationalities and personalities too. We listened to our orders even on shore and liberty too. We represented the United States of America and did so with pride. We held out heads high, we did what Uncle Sam said and made America a nation all loved and all Americans are proud of.

We did skip the Draft, we didn’t cry over bone spurs in our feet. Today we have an American President who dodged serving his country. Who wants to tear down America, for what, his own anger over losing an election? He lost in 2020 folks, there is not doubt, he should not be able to go on a four year Presidency just to get retribution and revenge against those in The Justic and Political System of America, who found his flaws, his errors and that he attacked. He tore up Washington, DC, Because he refused to admit his defeat to Joe Biden, yet here he is back in Office, tearing up our Government now, why? The saddest day in my history is the day DOnald J. trump began his second term as President of the United States and it should be for all Americans. Yet, we have the MAGA Followers of his who managed to Vote him in and now blindly follow him in all ways. There is no more Republican Party folks, Lincoln’s Party has died. They have no self-pride, no wisdom, no steadfastness, and no honor these days. These receed and run, and give Trump and his cronies, the right to do all they wish. The Republican Party should disband actually and just raise the white flag as a band of cowards, and never return. What happened to the Conservatives who had the balls and honor to protect the United States Constitution and our Bill of Rights? Where have the real Republican Conservatives gone?

We all know The United States is in Debt to the world for many reasons, but, should we be dismantling the Education Department, Should we be allowing Elon Musk a non-elected individual, into our personal data and records? Who the hell is Elon Musk really folks, where did he come from and just because he is the richest man on the planet he knows it all? Bullshit ! And why is Elon Musk making finanacial decisions for Americans? If you ask me Elon Musk is the unofficial President of the United States and the World knows it. Donald J. Trump may wear the Presidency Title, but he sure as hell, is not making the decisions, Musk is, why is that?

Let me say this, JOe Biden may have lost it in office, buy you will lose it some too if you live to your 80’s. But then Trump is reelected, and he was 78 coming in folks this time. He mumbles, he sits by as Elon Musk tells him what to do and he does it. But, the end of his term Trump will be a blathering idiot, and controlled by Musk in all ways and the americans who voted for him will pay the price like all will. Let me ask you this folks, what would the Founding Fathers of our Country have done about and with Donald J. Trump? I know what they would have done at the minumum, Tarred and Feathers his ass and hung him on a post and ran him out of town and country. He destroyed the Capital on Jan. 6th, he sent thos epeople in and all know it. Now I ask you who paid for the repair of our Capital after that attack on January 6th, we did folks, we the taxpayers. Trump didn’t put out a penny to repair or replaced what he destroyed. He got away with it.

Trump is a bought and sold President, period, He was bought by Elon Musk and Putin! Sadly, Americans are blind to that fact or won’t admit it. Time will show what I am saying is true, as Trump sits behind the Resolute desk and looks the part and Musk pulls all the strings and sells us out to Putin and Russia. I shit you not folks, it is happening before your very eyes and if you don’t see it, well your not educated enough, or youra cultist and MAGA Follower who is brainwashed. Sadly, America is not getting stronger in the world we are heading backwards, but, many will say I am full of it. I am not, but, The MAGA Crowd has the bullhorns and the press now and they have scared the hell out of Congress and the Democrats, and are allowed to do as they want. Unless America, reacts stronger, with more force, more protests, more anger, in some way, america is done in the World folks and asa nation. We are now, following blindly, much like the germans fell for Hitler and his tactics. Will America be able to recover from Trump and his MAGA Followers, and if not, where do we end up folks, in an autocratic country, with no say, and torn asunder, and ripped off for all the financial information and money we put in to our country. we are being dismantled folks, by Trump and Musk and their followers, wake up! They are laughing all the wayto the bank, and lying out theirt asses to you the american people, do you like being shit on now? Do you like all that is being dismantled and destroyed now? If we the american People do not wake up, stand up and begin to fightback, we are done as a nation folks, the Great American Dream will die! Like all the great Empires before us, we shall disappear also. Ask the aztecs, The Peruvians, The American Indians,The Incas, and yes the Germans and even the Japanese, all fell, because they blindly followed and did not question or work hard enough to fight back. So, it seems, it will go for America, and our American Dreams.

Understanding Today’s Challenging Dating Scene in Massachusetts

Hello Valentines Day, I wish all who have someone to share it with a great Valentines Day and evening. May you enjoy the relationship you are in and find a greater connection to the person you are with.

That said and done, I wonder why the dating scene in America and specifically Massachuetts is in the shape it is in. I know many won’t even date, at this time and most of it is a matter of trust, being taken for money, or attitudes that come from anger against the opposite gender these days. I find a lot of anger in the people of Massachuetts, and many fears among them also. They are angry over being taken for money, or because they were cheated on, and that leads to trust issues as I see it. I have also run into people who are naricists here. Why, there are so many of them I still have no idea. Yet there they are, using others for their money, or using someone as a Trophy man or woman on their arm. Average looks get you overlooked also it seems, people want prince charming or a princess look. Sadly, folks the majority of people who are single are so, for many reasons. maybe the biggest reason is trust issues in many areas as I see it. Some believe they will get cheated on, some believe they will get taken for money, some are scared of trying anymore over both of those issues. I think if you believe your going to find perfection in someone you date, you will fail,, each and every single person has some faults for sure. Some are Divorcees, some widowers, widows, some have never been married and call themselves solos.

I have run into all the above, in Westborough here, and Massachuetts in general and I believe it is the same in all states in the country and areas too. Why is the question is it not? I mean why is it so bad a dating scene these days in America? I don’t have all the answers thats for sure, but I also have found it is in all age groups. From young adults at 21 to old people in their 70’s who are single, it seems, they are staying single and alone for all of the above reasons i mentioned. I gather that, most people understand in today’s America, the problems and they have no idea how to overcome it at all.

I believe that since Americans and the people in Massachuetts are so scared, it will not change anytime soon. You can’t change it, unless you allow yourself to takea chance out there. Men have stopped asking women out these days. The Men tend to avoid asking or approaching women, in today’s America, especially here in Massachuetts it seems. again it is a matter of fear of being taken for money or belongings, being used to make another jealous or because we can’t trust the women we meet. Approaching a woman in my area where I live is scarey to me. I have seen many nice looking women, yet I do not go, want to date or go out to them, Men also have fears of rejection, just like women do too. I think many women don’t realize that at all. I have experienced things like staring, in both directions, and no one moves. I have also even had discussions or chatted to women while shopping in malls or grocery stores. But, I do not cross the line to ask them out or even if they are single or not. In today’s America it is dangerous to do so, for you know not how they may react. I know it sounds weird to many, but the facts are the facts today. This is why men don’t approach women and women do not normally approach men, either. They shy away from doing so, just as badly as us men do. The real question is how does one overcome and approach anyone anymore? Maybe it’s me, but, I see this happening daily and I find it amusing and in the end sad.

Dating sites don’t really work either for everyone out there. Why, because both sexes like to use false pictures or photos, or make profiles that are fake also. Many do it, and is it an insecurity or a fear in all, or a way to try to overcome some fears. I don’t know i just find it amazing and crazy. Years ago, a friend of mine was desperate to get a girlfriend. I walked into his home back then, to find him writing numerous letters to numerous women out of magazines and ads he had gathered. I stared in amazement at what he was doing and of course asked him why. I told him to stop it, he was wasting money, in stamps, letters, envelopes and more. None of those women would answer him I told him.

So he asked me what he should do. I told him I think the best advice I could give him at the time. Stop writing letters, and start being you. I told him to go to work as normal. and to do what he liked to do and just be himself. Stop trying to force anything, it would never happen if he continued that way.

In the end, what happend is he listened to me. He went to work, talked to everyone he could, was himself each day and did what he liked best. One day he went to work and he had a job to do for a woman. as he did the job, the woman watched him and started talking to him as he completed the job. By the end of the job, she asked him out. Well, that led to his now being married for over 30 years, to that same woman. It worked back then, but today, it may not work. People today have too many problems, some have mental problems, some emotional problems some have fears of many things and trust issues. It is not the same world anymore. I met my wife I had for 28 years at a Singles Dance, all I did was ask her to dance with me. That led to 28 years of marriage, and happiness for us both. So, we don’t have single’s dances anymore, we don’t have roller skating rinks anymore either. So what is available to meet people you might to want to date. Some do bars/ Taverns and Clubs, thats ok if your a drinker and have the money, yet there is no guarantee is there? I am older myself, I don’t drink and think it is a way to waste money in today’s world. and the way the economy is going these days, it is foolish to waste money as we all know.

Well as you can see, what I am talking about here, is the Dating Scene in this day and age. Now you may think, I am just complaining and moaning and groaning and I am wrong. let me point out to you, I am not alone in these opinions or thoughts. It has even been put out and talked about on national tv and news stations and channels and programs. It is called the Loneliness Syndrome in America and it is real folks. The only question that remains is how do Americans overcome it, and can it be overcome?

Exploring Life as a Senior in Westborough, MA

Living in Westborough, Mass. is like living in a town I grew up in in Connecticut on many points. It is filled with banks or all kinds of course, churches are everywhere you look, and in the end so are bar/ taverns. It holds numerous retail stores and resturants too. What it is missing is places to actually do things with other people, to mingle and get to know one another. Hard to believe but this is not the first such town I have run into that is this way.

We don’t havea bar/tavern that has karyoke in it here, we don’t havea roller skating rink or even a movie theather it seems. Plenty of Parks are around if you like outdoor walking at least. So, I always wonder what do people really do in Wetsborough, beside working and shopping? I know I am not into exercise clubs or gyms, not at 69 years old, lol. I have tried Taverns and bars here, ranging from Red Heat, to Cold Harbor to Central House and JP’s. What is there really besides drinking and eating in Westborough, that you can meet someone your own age group, chat, have fun, laugh and maybe find someone to be with? Can anyone tell me?

I have heard the suggestions of volunteer work, but even that can be boring. The Senior Center here in Westborough, is slow and usually pretty empty to be honest, about it. So, I branches out to Northboro’s Senior Center which is newer and looked there too. While I can say, I do not dislike Westborough, Mass. I do wonder why it builds so many 55 plus communities and condos, but doesn’t do anything for the Seniors more than just a Senior Center? I don’t have the answer for that myself, as to what it could be. It just seems to me, that if you are going to attract seniors to live here, you should think about those of us seniors, who are single, divorced, or widowed also. Just a suggestion, Westborough is all.

I get bored easily I guess, and I am very creative these days it seems. As we age we tend to be set in our ways and we cary on like there is no other way to be. I admire other seniors who find a wya to do things and keep themselves busy, I just haven’t found a way to do that myself.

I write poetry, I write short stories and i do these blogs. I have ventured to Town Hall Meetings an dlistened to what the town is preparing as far as a new Community Center goes. While i like the idea of sucha community Center being built in town, I think a mistake was made in the buying of the building they paid for. The building should have been better inspected, and now needs additional funding for repairs. Secondly, I find it not very well thought out on the basis of the facts of trying to put Seniors, Veterans and Youth in it at one time. While the seniors would like their privacy and peace and quiet, the youth would not want that. The Veterans are another subject in and of themselves. To place youth in a building near Veterans, who may or may not be suffering from PTSD is definitely not a good idea. I remind some, a Veteran with PTSD can be set off, by a noise, a sound, a word, almost anything that triggers them. So, I do not recommend placing them in a building with youth. While a Senior Citizen may be able to avoid such a conflict, because they tend to understand it better, a youth wil not. So, if I was on one of the committees for the town involved in the Community Center Project I would rethink this, for safety of the youth, as well as to prevent confrontations and problems with the Veterans. Just a suggestion folks, you may agree or disagree, but I think it should be a consideration here.

On Route 9, going down, is a old Movie Theater Building empty now for a long time. If i were the town, I would go through the tax records and try to find who is paying the taxes on it and attempt to purchase it. If the town did that, they could turn that into a Youth Center her in westborough and be putting the youth in an eviroment of their own. I think that would be a good solution to the above problem with the new Community Center. Just an idea folks.

OK, whats the next subject for me, I do not know yet. What I have been trying to do is examine my life as it is today here in Westborough, Mass. the town, the enviroment, the atmosphere, and the people. While the People seem friendly enough and will talk to you if you ask questions, there is still a bit of an air of something about it all. People rush to and fro it seems always in a hurry to come and go. The Library in town needs work and rebuilding as we all know, and yes i have been there too. So whats, the best thing about Westborough, Mass. os my question. Is it the Churches? Is it the Bars/Taverns. The Retail stores and Resturants? Please, tell me, for i know asa senior member of the town now, I am still looking for it, and how to be better intergrated into it.

I do know that the State of Massachuetts overall, has a problem that leads people to call them Massaholes. Now some laugh when I say that and others know of it’s existence. What it really is I have yet to figure out. Yet, it seems, it is definitely a personality thing or an attitude thing here in this state. You either put up with it, or you walk away from it and ignore it, that is the two possiblilties in my mind over it. For I don’t think I shall ever understand it, thats for sure. I also have noticed there is a lot of anger in some people in Massachuetts that I have not seen in other states i have lived in. Why, I have no idea, I wish I knew so I could understand the sudden change of temperment in some people, I have run across. But, life goes on and as a Senior CItizen myself, I know better then to sit there and argue over anything with someone i just met. LOL

Anyway, I think I have asked enough questions, that I can not find answers for in this blog. If there is ever a way to answer these, I hope i can do so in a peaceful manner. Until I do, I shall keep wondering is what I say.
