Technological Advances thru Writing/Writers
As I age and watch the world change around me with technological devices that no one ever thought about before, I wonder how many realize where many of the new ideas for these devices came from?. Ladies and Gentlemen, technological was not always what it is today, computers, cell phones, tablets, HDTV and medical equipment and machines that do almost anything someone wants done!. This all came from visionary people, people who dreamed of how to get things done quicker, better, and in a more reliable fashion.
Among these great minds we always talk about we have Franklin, Edison, Bell, and of course many forgien inventors also. We do tend to forget the visionaries who weren’t inventors but had the visions. For one the mind is a terrible thing to waste as someone said, and it is in the imagination of writers, producers, actors, and more that imagination becomes reality. Stop and think about it now, it is in the movies and films and books we find some of the basis for the technology we have today.
We all know Steve Jobs who died recently, brought us the ideas and motivation and innovations of today. The computers and tablets, and I-pods, I-pads and more. He was a walking genius.
But before Jobs and others who now rule the computer, cell phone and technological world were the visionaries who thought it all up. Gene Rodenberry, writer, producer, and genius in his own right. He had the vision that gave us handheld cell phones=communicators, talking computers, on the bridge of the Enterprise and other ships, hand-held medical scanners of different types and much more.Yes writers, producer, innovators, thinkers and more. Rodenberry thought up things in Star Trek books and movies that are now reality today and working their way into helping humanity survive and co-exist. Amazingly few think of Rodenberry this way, but stop and look back, when he brought Star Trek he brought all these things into the minds and visions of inventors and more. So it is the writers in many cases, who have the most vivid imaginations and abilities to flesh out the ideas on paper, in books and on the big screen and small screen too.
As we go further into the 22nd century, we have to look back at the mysteries, miracles, and fathom what could not be without those who came before us all. The visions of writers like Rodenberry is what made the world a better place today. What one could do with electronics and computers and chips and circuit boards was never a vision before writers like Rodenberry in the Sc-Fi world of books. So when we stop and think back on people like Franklin, Bell,Edison, the Wright Brothers and more, we best also think back on the great writers of the world and their abilities with words, thoughts and bringing it all to life in a book or magazine article or on the tv or movie screen. They produced many of the ideas that fuel the technological progress of the world today, and they are now dead and gone of course, but their contributions continue to affect every living being on the planet in one way or another. When someone tells you they are a writer, and they do a blog, stories, poems, scripts, and whatever genre they write, stop and think of the inner workings of a person with that talent to convey such imagination in such vivid color and perception that another can read it, and go, I can make it real and they do.The writers who put the emotions into characters or the feelings in a story, or poem or article, all are blessings few us truly understand, but should. God Bless the writers, the thinkers the technological wizards who take what writers produce and bring it all to life.
America Needs Changes
I have spent many blogs on the economic problems and lack of jobs problems in the USA. I have spent a few more on the political races, and lack of concern and work of our current politicians in office.I know, I know I can rant, and rave, complain and bitch and it goes unheard and no one listens to a complainer anyway. BUT, FOR GOD SAKE! CAN SOMEONE PLEASE KICK OUR POLITICIANS IN THEIR ASSES AND MAKE THEM DO THEIR WORK!.
Now with that said and out-of-the-way, maybe we can talk of somethings like dreams and hopes, cares and sharing, or even just fun. Too many people grow up here in America with dreams of what and who they want to be and never reach them. The reasons normally are economic conditions, financial non-support, or they just give up too easily. America sorry to say is a society and country spoiled in many ways, by what we had for so long, prosperity. Now we face the sad fact of that being gone and us having to struggle harder to survive and move along. No where else in the world though can you find the same climate, conditions or chances to advance yourself than here.
American society and America as a country is not really done even through it is on a decline like so many great empires in the past. Historically, the Egyptians, The Romans, The Peruvians, The Aztecs in the early days were all great too. But their ultimate demise and collapse all hinged on the type of government they were right? Wrong folks, they all failed to appease the people, they all failed to keep profit rolling along and financial stability!. The same can be said today of America as we slowly slip from power and hand it over to China and others. Sadly as much as we all love our country and what we stand for and the pride we have in it, we are slowly beginning to understand, we have prevented ourselves from competing properly in the global economy. We are a country that undercut its own efforts with what we thought was progress, and are called Trade Agreements. We are hurting because we sacrificed to help others. Believe you me they would never do that to help us. So, while we took the moral and ethical high ground and burned ourselves, they take the lower ground, benefit and run over and around us. We need to fix it for sure, back on out of the damn Trade Agreements, charge them all higher tariffs and taxes on their products.
A Positive point today to see, finally America is pulling back from wars and countries we can not continue to support or fight, or police for others. Our leaving Iraq by the end of 2011 is a great sign. We should also get out of Afghanistan and end our commitments to countries that don’t care about what we do or provide and still hate us anyway. None of these countries we are fighting in today, would ever bother to lend America a hand in bad times, yet we do it because we have a leadership role right?. Well, I say now let China do it and we can come home, save the funding, and our troops lives and repair our own country.
Economy, Jobs and Justice!
Economy, Jobs and Justice!
Friday has arrived again and another work week is coming to an end, As American’s of all nationalities and races, scurry about earning the money with which to pay for living. Isn’t it amazing how we all do this, and now days, more than a quarter of working americans are out of work. Why is that Congress?
Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, Economy, Economy, Economy stupid!. Politicians ya need to listen now and come up with a workable package that can turn the damn job market around and the American Economy, We have gone from number one to number ten now and will drop more unless our elected officials do something soon.
Places of business are closing on a daily basis. Manufacturing has disappeared and gone over seas. The middle American and lower income American can’t survive and some now live on the streets in cardboard boxes, and beg for food!. How much worse can it get, well we are nearing the stages of recession where it can just as easily fall into a major depression. If that happens it will be bread lines again and worse. America needs to find a way to create jobs, create businesses and gainful employment as soon as possible.
Congress this is a message for you, Americans can not wait for November of 2012, we need action now. We need you elected officials in Washington running around in your business suits and dresses and pants suits to wake up. Maybe we should just fire you all, but we can’t and Americans aren’t stupid enough to think we can, at least not all at once.
Occupy is a movement of protest and concern it is also a way to approach those elected, who are not working for the betterment of the American people. As the protests and movement grows, the Occupy Protest needs to take place in Washington, DC our Capital. The Occupy Protest and movement should gather as many as humanly possible and Occupy Washington, DC and march and protest Congress, both sides, Senate and House of Representatives. Circle their work environments, make them see it daily, the signs, the anger, the helpness feeling of the lower and middle class. Then, in the end if they don’t still do their jobs, we need to lower their benefits, their paychecks and see if they can live on a retail wage like the rest who are struggling are trying to do. And those are the lucky ones.
So, when I see President Obama struggling to help the economy, then his political opponents struggling to stop him and it becomes a pitiful little child like war, I tire of the crap.I will not say President Obama is 100 percent correct in all he has done so far, or that what he is proposing is 100 percent correct, but at least he is propsing something in the Jobs Bill he came up with. And ladies and gents of all colors, nationalities, anything is better than nothing and begging for food and living in cardboard boxes.
One last comment before I close my blog today. It is a thought for all who now sit home and watch the wheels of Justice roll forward on HLNtv and in the Conrad Murray Trial for the Death of Micheal Jackson. When you consider the quilt or innocence of the Doctor, please stop and think of the guilt of the man who died also. Remember, Micheal Jackson wanted the drug that killed him, he even hired Murray not as a physican really but as a supplier and administrator of the drugs for him. The amount of a monthly paycheck of $150,000 dollars alone should tell you Jackson wanted this. Jackson I believe convinced Murray to take the position as his employee just so he could control him and he did. So when you point the finger at Conrad Murray who did break every medical ethic there was in giving in to Jackson’s wants and whims, stop and think who pays a Doctor not to be a Doctor but a supplier and administrator of drugs for them, someone who wants it bad enough to keep at it and kill himself by doing so.
The Death of Gaddafi
The Death of Gaddafi
History has shown us many times over that Dictators, Tyrants do not last nor so they survive when they go down. Now another one is gone, Gaddafi is now dead and gone. As the Libyan people celebrate his capture and death we all need to remember Dictators and Tyrants liter history and all end up dead.
Along these lines we have in history, Caesar, HItler, Mussolini, Husein and now Gaddafi, and history shows as always these individuals go too far and push too much against their people and the world instead of compromising and changing as the world does.
Each case from one end of the world to the other, shows us all, that no matter what, their form of leadership, does not work. What will happen now in Libya and to that country is still beyond our knowledge or anyone else’s. Of course many of these countries will be moving in to control Libya and it’s people or at least help them create a government of their own. Which way will they go as a country and people is still yet to be determined. America‘s influence has to be put in of course but the measure of it will be the question. While America tries to influence and help these countries to become free nations and yes we push democracy, it doesn’t mean they will accept it. It is a decision for the Libyan people to make.
I just hope for the world’s sake and the sake of the Libyan people they make the right decisions and go in the right direction. Our influence, America, will be only applied or added if the Libyan people want it.
Politics is still and will always be a ruling area in the world. But it has its limits and so do the Americans and our country as a whole. We can not pressure, push, Libya or it’s people into anything they must now choose what is best for them!. Step back world and let the Libyan people now decide and think through what they believe they need and want next.
Misty Night a Poem by William McCurrach
Misty Night a Poem by William McCurrach
Was a misty night in October,
The mist rolled across the open fields and hid the trees,
She came through the mist at me,
Her beauty almost drove me to my knees.
Her smile cut through the mist and fog,
Her beauty burned the mist around her,
Making it part,
And from that moment on she owned my heart.
I froze at the sight,
What a delight!
The mist surrounded us and held us tight,
Locked in a stare,
The passions showing in our eyes,
Oh what a misty, October night!.
The Moon was shadowed by her beauty,
The skies parted it seemed to let her through,
Did she know what she could do?
Gently we touched, hands touching hands,
Pulling each other close,
Passions building and hearts beating in time,
I could not believe this beauty was all mine.
For one night in October under the foggy skies,
Through the mist, we touched, we caressed, we kissed.
We let the passions loose, felt the wonder.
Was it a dream or a chance, or a blunder?.
I will never know what it was or how it happened,
But I will dream of that misty October night,
Forever and live in surpise and fright,
For it was indeed, one special October night,
Burned in my heart and mind,
Never disappearing from my minds sight!.
Differences? Can they be made?
After careful consideration and thought, I wonder if I want to continue to post a blog, with short stories and poems and rants and raves. The way it is recieved at times disappoints me, and at other times surprises me. I think to myself is it worth doing this or am I doing it for the hell of it. I sometimes wonder am I speaking to myself or is anyone listening, I guess I will never know really. Only time will tell me if i will be heard or ignored in the world.
I am not a professional writer, a publisher or editor, nor a science geek or tech geek either. But I am a disabled american veteran with thoughts on what is right in the world and thoughts on whether we are fighting wars or battles we should be fighting. I have my beliefs and thoughts on the wars America is now involved in and i firmly believe we need to get the hell out of them all.
Each war zone or policing action we are in is costing the American tax payer a fortune each day in costs. Man power, equipment, and more go into this, including transporting the troops where needed and bringing them home. Lets now concentrate on just the last part please, bring all out troops home.
Iraq, Iran, Afganistan, they are quicksand pits for our military personel and our money. Not a one of these countries we are dabbling in and trying to help cares one bit about America or it’s people. They would rather see us eliminated and removed from the face of this planet. We need to wake up and stop playing the police force of the world and police our own country and straighten it all out here at home. The billions upon billions we pour out helping other countries, we can be using at home to solve our job problems, our homeless problems, our hungry problems. We are over extending beyond belief and killing ourselves to help others who will never help us back.
The said and done, while we are at it lets handle the trade agreements and fix those now instead of later. Our trade agreements have been killing this countries economy slowly since the 1980s. We gave the other countries an advantage over us by giving them breaks on tariffs and taxes and in the end they used that break we gave them to their advantage and shoved it right up the American People’s Asses by undercutting our prices, stealing what we make best and doing as they please to us. Sadly our government is dumb enough to sit here and allow them to do it, it’s time the American people stand up and say no more to our own elected officials and make them fix it all. Will we fight back or will we allow countries that don’t give two shits about us to run us into the ground?
Now onto the Occupy Movement across the United States and the world. While I believe firmly in peaceful protests and standing up and being heard like anyone else, there has to be a direction to it all. It is not Seattle, or New York or Florida or any specific city or town that needs Occupying. It is one town in one state, and one place of business that needs Occupying and changing, Ladies and Gentleman take it all to Washington, DC. Occupy the grounds of Congress and the Senate, protest the lack of effort by our politicians. Protest their inability to get anything done that will help the american economy. The hell with waiting until November 2012, when the new election cycle comes up. Americans need help now, they are losing homes, can’t find jobs, going hungry and starting to sleep in cardboard boxes on the streets. The street corners are filling up with Americans with signs, Will Work for Food, shouldn’t that tell our politicians something, like move now, get off your asses!?
In closing this today as my blog, I have to go back to my point in the beginning of it. Is it worth my time and effort to write this each day and let it sit on the internet to be read. Will it make a difference? Or am I just another voice being blown through and by the wind that echos off of things but is never listened to? I guess only time shall tell on that point.
