Last night the American President, talked to Congress and the nation about the Nation, its place in the world, it’s price in the world and what he believes and wants to do during his term. The truth is much different than what President Trump has said and spoke about.

He named numerous things he is determined to do it seems and in my opinion he will fail to accomplish all of it in one term for sure. It will be impossible to pay for it all, is the bottom line and some will have to fall by the wayside.  The second point to make he never said how he will pay for any of it if he believes the money will come from the American taxpayer he is wrong we don’t have it!  Is he serious I doubt it I really do, he sounded optimistic of course because that is his job real like he said he is there to represent one country one nation and one people us. Represent and Protect is the only part of his speech I can believe in, but money wise we don’t have the cash to do what he wants in entirety.

The first thing he will have to let go will be his wall between us and Mexico for sure. If he builds such a wall it will cost America at least 54 billion dollars. And that my friends is just the cost of cement, without rebar and openings for people to pass through. We don’t need a wall really, additional border guards and a conversation with the Mexican Government can solve the problem cheaper.  Let’s face facts we are like the President said closing in on America;s 150th birthday, and never in all that time have we needed walls between us and our neighbors, on our land. And if he does build this wall, how big of a waste will it be when the Mexicans dig under it, over go over it, or around it by boat? Face reality, Mr. President, the Mexicans are like every other people in the world. trying to come here because we are so much better than they are. So why not help them improve their country? That is the answer here, not a wall!

While I appreciate President Trump’s speech and attempt to talk about America’s problems, he failed to say what any of it will cost and how it will be paid for. Sadly, we just don’t have the cash or credit to do it all Mr. President. Wake Up, America, can’t keep doing all and all you wish to do, We can not build a wall, and rebuild the infrastructure of the country and redo healthcare too, impossible. We will always be limited by the amount of money we have to fix things Mr. President, would you like to run us into bankruptcy, like you did your casinos four times?

If you want to make America Great, then you may wish to consider what I am about to say and try to enact it if you are President of all the people!

1)  Rework Obama Care/ ACA so it pays medical costs for all and the rates don’t rise anymore. But do it more in the manner of how the Canadians did their healthcare, one plan for all and free to all Americans

2) Leave the following programs alone: A) Medicare/ Medicaid 2) Social Security 3) Change the tax plan to lower it for all lower and middle-class individuals to pay a lot less and the rich to pay their fair share.  4) Create taxes by lowering the tax rates on business and small companies, bring back manufacturing to America. While our homeless and veterans who are homeless roam our streets, do something to give them a place to go for help and cover and comfort. Make them a wayward home and build many nationally in each state. That way they can find a place where they are now and get a bed to rest in and stay healthy.  Improve Veterans Benefits, by improving coverage and health care, bring in the best for the Veterans and increase their disability payments so they can survive and live like everyone else instead of below poverty levels. 5) Make Congress go back to work and do their damn jobs, set term limits on them if the Presidency has an 8-year limit, so should the Representatives and Senators. As the elder member of Congress goes so goes the country, get them to compromise and get things done, period, can’t compromise replace them till they will for the good of the country. What right do our senators and representatives have to be in a job and skate thru to their federal retirement package and benefits, any more than the average American worker? If the average American has to work each day and accomplish something shouldn’t our political leaders have to also?

6)  Create a Military strong enough to defend the country and to be a powerful force for good in the world.Choose what countries we help and don’t help, based on needs, and respect they give us in return. Otherwise, make better damn decisions on helping other nations, many don’t give any respect or anything in return.

7) Rebuild our infrastructure, let’s get better at keeping it up also. Help the states with it and rebuild it nationally too.

8) Kepp us the hell out of wars, especially fighting other people’s wars, that we have nothing to do with. I believe in defending and helping our Allies but lets not just shell out big bucks, and military lives for just anybody.

9 The education of our children is the biggest thing we need to improve, all should have affordable ways to reach college and get a better education. Stop dropouts from dropping from school, it doesn’t help to have uneducated people trying to find jobs when we all know the jobs will be for the better educated!

10) Finally, don’t get involved in stupid shit like pot control, it is used now for medical help for many cancer patients and more and is in many states as a recreation drug, and legal. It is inevitable it will go country wide let it happen. It’s one good for medically ill people, two harmless for most and three it is creating a business that is very profitable for the country and each state. Wake up, tax it some, but don’t tax it out of business, the profits in taxes will help lower the damn debt of the country.

11) While I am not a Trump supporter in any way, I actually can’t stand our current President, but, we are stuck with him. We need to change the way Presidents are elected. A combination of the popular vote and electoral vote would work, always remembering the popular vote represents the people and should be the way to go. Period.

12) Leave the following separate, religion and government, period, as the constitution says. Leave the damn media and newspapers alone and shut the hell up about them unless they are really regressive and dead wrong. The media and the aired and written words and comments are needed to balance the government and keep it in check, period, it is right the way it is. You want to bitch about what is reported do so, but don’t ban media from anything and don’t censure them. It’s wrong and not liked by anyone, let them do their damn jobs.

         As all writers tend to wonder over time, what do the people of the world like to read about? Murder? Mysteries, Biographies, Dramas, Romance? What subject interests the most people in the world? Some writers find one area to write in and continue to write in it, until the day they die, hoping that it sells, others may take a trip thru them all, under assumed names and try to find a new niche. The real question is what is it that the people want to read, what would make you pick up a good book and sit and read it till you finish it? Is there an answer out there folks that, a writer can use and master? I kind of wonder about it, believe me, I have done murder stories, thrillers, mysteries, romances even, I already know I suck at biographies and admit to it. So where does a writer go top, to tell a story, others would want or love and actually buy? Can the public tell us, what would make someone buy a book, subject wise folks, can you tell me at all? Or is it too wide a subject for the masses to tell, or can an opinion poll tell me? I wonder all the time, believe me, cause I keep trying, and either my writing sucks, or I am in the wrong subject or something is wrong. I noticed if I put the books up as a free giveaway people grab them and read them, but once priced, they don’t sell, it’s a picky audience out there for sure!

The Church was old and Gothic looking large spires, all gray poking into the sky, the stairs going up to the doors, were gray slate too. The Cherry Red Stained doors were old and weathered and when you walked in, immediately on each side, sat two bowls of Holy Water to bless yourself with. A slate-covered foyer was here and then a second big set of cherry wood doors, next and then when you entered the church the pews were on both sides big rows about 30 deep then in front sat the altar with its podium and, lights, and candles burning, gold ornaments, and a big cross dead center. The Priest stood dead center smiling and waving guest into his web and parlor like a spider, in a web. His voice echoed off the walls and stain glass windows as he spoke, blessing people, condemning them for sins, and preaching sermons from the bible. The good people of the church would stand and kneel as directed and as they knew from experience of attending the church here.  The Alter Boys scurried about doing their duties and kneeling and standing as needed to make the hour of church going complete. No one knew anything except the church had it functions for them all, saving their souls and preaching. Follow the Lord, pay your Sunday dues to keep the church going and quietly come and go, was the pattern followed by many in the small town, of Bridgewater, they had no other thoughts about church, except the public persona of it all. But behind the scenes, strange events had been going on for years and no one knew except one man and he wore robes and never, ever ventured in speech or public to say anything on it.  The church is a place of worship kindness and giving they say and vital to many of the people in town and their families and children. How anyone could have any idea of what the priest, was hiding, and why it was always so silent after church hours. With the priest never hardly leaving the property and living it seems in peace there, and the altar boys and parishioners coming and going, it was the most peaceful and respected place in town for all. The Church was a respected and loved the place for the whole town, even those who didn’t attend believed it, Father Baldwin, was loved by all, who knew him, yet the vision or perfection and religious perfection was far from what it seemed. Old churches and Priests have things to hide, it seems and some more than others, thought Detective James. I have been coming here all my life and Father Baldwin has been here forever it seems, James thinks, how a man can preach and give sermons all the time, hiding all the time what he knew. Sadly, Detective James hung his head in silent prayer to God asking his forgiveness, for what he must do, but also, telling God it was his duty also. For father Baldwin has got to know what is coming, I suspect he does anyway, if not, well, I am sorry. I will wait till he is done with his hour long services and when all the good people of our community are gone. As I am told, Detective James thinks, what happened here in this church and rectory and home in the back has been going on since I was a baby, and I am lucky it didn’t affect me or my family, but how many families did it affect, we shall find out soon enough. Tipping his hat back and then removing it in the church, Detective James sits in a pew and grab a hymn book and opens it to the current hymn, and sings along, it’s like being on automatic for me, he thinks. Well, after today, it will be the last service I attend with old Father Baldwin, singing along James starts to remember and flashback to his childhood, and the things said Sunday School, days. The memories flash in James’s head and he drifts into memories as the song goes on in the church. All those years I attended with my parents and siblings and never once did anyone suspect. This church has always been respected and honored in this city, yet why wouldn’t it be, as a church accepting everyone it did all it could for the community. Yet……………..

             Slowly I turn, and wham, it’s almost the end of Feb. 2017, hard to believe how fast time flies by! Soon we shall be two months into the year, and it seems like there was never any break, or slowing down.  Each day seems like the last as time flies by, nothing changes anymore, with the exceptions of the political climate, the value of the dollar, and of course America’s standing in the world falls. President Donald Trump may like running an office they way he is in the White House, but the country was not made to be run in chaos.

                  Anyway, as I sit here this AM, I wonder whether writing is worth it to me frankly, than I say to myself, if for no other reason, I write for me and to get my stories out of my heart, out of my mind and off my chest, so yes I will write more, as to what it will be, well that is to be determined. I write on a basis of what subject hits me at a particular time is all. One time may be murder mysteries, of which I have now written many, another may be about a dying man or woman’s feelings, or about an old love affair or romance. I never know for sure what I may write and when, it all depends on how I feel at the time and how life goes around me. For it is the atmosphere of each day of life that determines what I may feel works as a subject.

          I write differently each time, and experiment with styles also. I sometimes create poetry, which is based on real life experiences I have lived through. Many poems I did were based on relationships and women of course, that is what romance and sex is all about and sometimes it is needed to say, or said out of affection, or as a fond memory. But the point is, in the end it is all based on something in real life. I have never really tried doing a fantasy, or sci-fi story seriously and don’t think I ever could. So I don’t go where I don’t feel comfy or sure. Plus I find my writing is far from perfect, even using word perfect from Microsoft.  Sad isn’t it!

        Whats next, as a writer, father, grandfather and man, I have no idea, life changes each day I wake up, and I am now 61 and feeling it so to say.  MY life has never been easy, and sometimes I wonder if I should end it and be done with this world. Then I am reminded, by attributing to it in someway I consider important or needed for my children, my grandchildren or a family member or friend. These things of course happen in life, and they motivate me to keep living, so here I be.

         At this time I am not writing anything except this blog, as my mind wanders thru time and space and faces that have affected my life and way of living. As I think of my childhood, then teens and young adulthood and more, I wonder what can happen next? Don’t we all reflect this way or is it just me who stops in quiet times and goes thru this process, you all can tell me.

           OK, enough meandering along I must move on to real life, which for me is these days cleaning house doing it all around the house, caring for my wife, who suffers from Bone Cancer that came from her breast cancer of many years ago. Anything I can do for her, I do, because she is the woman I love, care for and keep safe and will love forever. Period. Life comes alive when I take care of her, even if it is boring and takes from things I would love to do myself, it doesn’t matter anymore, for she is my world, even if she doesn’t notice it. Doctor runs, tests, scans, sitting in offices and hoping for the best for her, has become my life these days. I miss doing other things, but not as much as long as I am with her. After writing about 65 little  books or stories and trying to sell them for years, I still have not found a decent marketer online for them it seems. While all claim to be professional and good at what they do, I find them lacking in their real skills and selling. I don’t think I am the only writer who thinks so either, for I see many others complaining about lack of sales and advertising for their books too.

I have tried Amazon and Publish most of my books there, I have also given Create Space a shot and try and now Smashwords too.  It seems, none are capable of marketing them and selling them not even at a .99 cents per copy price. I don’t know why, and personally I have given up trying them all, for each one cost me money I never get back and I really can’t afford them.

What all writers want is some kind of acknowledgement, for what they write about or the story they tell. But, there be too many writers and not enough publishers, and for me not enough patience and time.  Maybe it is because, I am older at 61 years old than most writers who are just beginning or my work is not long enough, or good enough to sell, I really have no idea because I get no feedback from anyone on anything I produce/ Write. No comments, or reviews seem to come my way, either on my Authors page or my Amazon Page for each book, or anywhere else. It’s not even easy to get reviews, because, people tend to avoid new authors and stick to the ones they love. I can understand that, yet, there has got to be a way for new writers to get noticed and reviewed, so that can improve as they go along, doesn’t that make sense folks? Ah well I will keep trying, because I write for fun and enjoyment of myself and those who do read what I write now and again. IT’s like a hobby, I hope to get better at, so it will sell one day.

I want to say Thank you to those who read my blog, now and then, and I hope you enjoy some of my articles and opinions. I am not a professional writer, but I would sure like to at least sell one book. LOL.

        Well, a new day, a new thought, a new story and away I go ! Writing is not easy, many Authors will tell you that, and when you argue it is easy, the next thing they will tell you is go ahead, try it yourself !

          Some people will try it and find out the English language is not easy to deal with, neither is the task of sticking to a plot, and keeping the characters in character as you go along. But advice I can give on Plotting a story, includes outlining it before you start one. I know, I know you hate doing outlines from high school days or even college days right? Well as a writer it is a necessary evil and needs to be done period, if you don’t do it, your story will go everywhere and the characters even won’t remain in character and there goes the work, poof!

Plotting a Plot 

     Before you start writing your story or novel, or short,          make sure you plot it out.

• Know where it takes place.

• Why it takes place

• What the story revolves around or through

• Stick to the plot and where it is going

• Put surprises or twists in your plot, for readers love trying to figure them out.

• Don’t plot it out to a happy ending every time, that’s not how life goes does it.

• Write down your plot and make sure it makes sense

• Every step you take has to build intensity and interest from the reader, remember the idea is to make a point, using your plot

• In the end, I suggest, you make an outline of the plot you wish to use and as you write follow it so you don’t miss a step or part

• I recommend next, that you outline each character to make them fit their part in the story.

• Think out each location your story will take place in, is it a outside area, a park, a city, a church, a mall etc. If so make sure you don’t change the areas parts and surroundings. It will confuse the reader.

• If you are writing an event in your life be true to it, except for names of people, change them so you don’t get sued over what you write.

• Write the story or book out, without worrying about mistakes in it. get it out of your head and on paper or in the computer word processor, so you don’t forget.

• Now go back and edit the spelling, punctuation and more, grammar counts here OK!

• Edit it at least three times, one for mistakes, the second for plotting to ensure it stays as it is supposed to, and third before thinking of publishing. Remember it must be acceptable to many people to sell.

• Save the project/story in the proper format needed for publishing such as a .pdf file, so it will be accepted. and print a copy of your manuscript out if your going to send it in to a publisher to publish.

• A Cover for your book, must be clean, neat and match your story and also grab the interest of the buyers of it. It must draw attention! Pick a good one take your time here, and make sure it draws looks from people.

• The Back Page of your book, should include a Synopsis of the book/story, your Biography should be on top of it.

• If you believe you wish to have a Forward to the story/book, make sure it is one page or less.  And contains a great part of the story.

• If you do a Dedication, make sure you explain why you did it.

• Final Advise to all Writers, before you sell your book/story to anyone check prices for books the same length as your so you don’t over or under price, stopping the readers from buying it.

• Last thing I will advise here, a Publisher has to be one that has an audience that will like, or love your type of story, if not they will not advertise it correctly, and you will lose readers and sales.

  I hope the above advice will help some writers out there especially the new ones, and as all writers will tell you, Welcome to the world of writing and imagination, if you try it, I wish you all the best, for the hardest part is finding an audience for your work.
