February Underway, Writing and More!

Morning all and Happy February third 2017. I am still working on my writings, trying to make it better, rewriting and expanding some of my books and trying to think of new subjects to write about, how about you?

I find myself at times, going back to look at older books I wrote and trying to expand them and make the endings more interesting. I recently went back and added to my Corner of Danger and Trouble Streets book, adding a Epilogue to it. I just hope some will buy it, and like what they read.

As to other things in life, I am now 61, turned it on January 25th, and feel no different due to age these days so far. I sometimes look back over my life and wonder did I do enough, more than likely not, but I tried. I graduated Elementary School, I dropped out of High School to work for a living in a factory, Then went and got a GED here in Connecticut and joined military. I did 16 years in the military, in three branches total, Army, Army National Guard and Navy.Have been married twice and have 2 daughters and one step daughter, and 6 grandchildren, not bad. At least on those counts right?

Next I returned to school in College, to Graduate with an Associates Degree in Hotel Management with a 3.7 average out of a possible 4.0, Earned Awards doing so too, and am a member of two Honor Societies. Managed a Hotel for a while then moved on to restaurants which I hated lol.

Now, I am retired with six degenerative discs in my spine, and I try to write books as I take care of my wife who has breast cancer spread  to bone cancer. We fight each day in keeping her alive and continue to keep keeping on.

I am closing in on 70 works I have written now and sold a few, not many for sure and wish to get better and sell more. As stated above, I redid the ending to my Corner of Danger and Trouble Streets and I think improved it some. It can be found online, in amazon.com: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01K23IXOE  This is the Link Folks !Give it a try, leave reviews and comments please!I sure could use the bucks, to help keep my wife going and medicines.

Thanks ALL

Bill

Voices In Your Head and Mine!

Voices in your head? Stories floating in there of people you have known? Yet when you start to write it down or type it out it all comes out jumbled and doesn’t sound right when you read it back? Be careful of those voices my friends, no, I don’t mean your going crazy or losing it, what I mean is you are writing in first person, than third person and mixing them. Remember to stay in either  first person, or third person all through your story if you don’t, Oh what a tangled mess you create, not only for yourself, but for any editor or publisher or reader too. So remember if your telling it from one characters stand point stay with that character unless they move away or die in the story. Many will confuse it and lose the reader, try not to folks.

I like doing Murder Mysteries or thrillers and everyone once in a while a Romance will hit me and I will jot it down and later expand it into a romance. Romances must be told from the perspective of the one telling it, for there is really no way, of knowing for sure how the other other person is thinking or feeling. So it is a one person perspective of their own feelings and whether they believe it is being returned to them too. If they do, then the story may get overly mushy for many, so don’t go too far with that aspect.

Finding your niche so to say is not easy when you write for at times you may mix them and try to make it work, and that again can cause confusion and a problem. What I try to do mostly as I said above, is write either mysteries for all to read, or romances, if they hit me as a good story. You all have seen some of my stories on my Author’s Blog here and on my author’s page on Amazon.com.

Unattainable Love I called it!

New Month/ New Perspective, New Story

February 2017 has arrived folks. A new month in a new year and away we go.

As time continues on and we grow older it seems to me,the U.S.A. is staying a constant right now, but for how long under President Trump is the real question?

Yesterday I released a new E-Book called, Robbie’s Vengeance, it deals with child abuse and the results such child abuse can cause when a child grows up. I think some may enjoy the story and how it was written by me. I can’t be sure of anything, but I am hoping some will get a kick out of reading it from the writer’s perspective.

Robbie's Vengeance by [McCurrach, William]

New Story coming soon!

I just completed a brand new story, and made it into an E-book, I called it Robbie’s Vengeance. It will tell what becomes of Robbie as he grows older and the decisions he makes and what he does.

I just hope people will like it when it is released. In the meantime, President Trump has already caused a constitutional crisis of major proportions with his banning and blocking of incoming refugees and persons from 7 countries. Then on top of all of this blocking, banning of Muslims, he has angered China, Germany, Mexico and more. Doesn’t this man understand the United States can not afford to be isolated from the rest of the world and still survive? Is he crazy, stupid or just being stupid or is he mentally ill? He needs to be evaluated by Psychiatric Doctors to see if he is mentally fit to hold the office he is in.

Anyway, I am nothing more than a regular tax paying citizen and a disabled veteran who served his country for 16 years, so I guess I have no say in much when it comes to the Government. Sadly life shall go on!

Plotting out a story

                                                            Plotting a Plot

Before you start writing your story or novel, or short, make

                 sure you plot it out.

  • Know where it takes place.
  • Why it takes place
  • What the story revolves around or through
  • Stick to the plot and where it is going
  • Put surprises or twists in your plot, for readers love trying to figure them out.
  • Don’t plot it out to a happy ending every time, that’s not how life goes does it.
  • Write down your plot and make sure it makes sense
  • Every step you take has to build intensity and interest from the reader, remember the idea is to make a point, using your plot
  • In the end, I suggest, you make an outline of the plot you wish to use and as you write follow it so you don’t miss a step or part

Writing for passion and reason

Writing is a part of a person if it is done correctly, let your words flow and let the emotions go, try to tell how you would feel during the incident or occasion you are writing about.  Use words that inject passion, love, hate, anger or sadness into the story. As a story teller tell the story in as simple a language as possible so the masses can understand it’s meaning. Using words that are not common is not good for it drives many people to dictionaries and causes a break in the reading of the story.

If you remember the story with passion and with love and caring or sadness in it, it must be told that way, to work for a reader too. expression is a big part of writing any story and needs to be conveyed to the reader in plain English or the language you are using clearly. If you are intending the story for the public then it must also meet the general public’s use of the language too period.  Make it meet the audiences level you are trying to reach, OK.
