As wars rage across the world, battles are being fought for towns and land and rights and more, I like many others pray for peace, and say thank you that I was born and raised in America. We can’t solve all our own problems, nor can we solve the worlds, but at least we are better off than most of it.

Ebola is extending out from The African Nations, now extending into Spain, and the United States, and Governments are slow to take action, faster folks or this Ebola can get millions. America needs to close its borders to all outsiders now, till this Ebola Crisis is under control. Don’t wait until we have a hundred or more with it and a hard time controlling it, do it now!

My statements are short today for good reason I have a busy day ahead of me. So forgive my shortness or curtness folks. My day today is composed of business for my wife at her Primerica Office and then in the evening we are taking time off, to go see one of Country Music’s Greatest Female Performers, in Martina McBride. I am excited to see her in concert tonight, and have heard she is great to see and worth the price. So I shall see, and so will my wife. If you are like me and you love Country Music there can not be a better way to spend a Saturday Night.

One last thing before I close my blog today, I know many of you are not thinking of what will happen on NOvember 4th, 2014, the Mid-Term Election, yet you should all be thinking about it and what we all need to do. We need to clean the House and Senate of the nay sayers and make it a Congress that will work for Americans once more. We need to get rid of The Filibusters, The naysayers, the fools who have stalemated Congress and the Country for their own political views and reason, must go! Think on it folks and make wise choices on NOvember 4th, 2014, or lose out on a chance to better the country. But 2016, if we have any brains and balls, and common sense, we should have Hillary Clinton for President and be back on a recovery road for our economy and so much more. Wake Up!

Who and What of Richard Nixon in History?

The Amazing life of an American like I am about to talk about is really unbelievable and downright crazy in many ways. Yet many call him a thief, a criminal and a fool for he, destroyed himself in the American People’s eyes and the eyes of the world. Why? will forever remain a mystery to many in the world, but it was no mystery to the man who lived it. He rose out of California, with a decent education, and manners taught to him by his mother, yet he talked at times like a street thug in a booze hall. He drank, he cried, he laughed and he tried, but by the time of his death, he was known worldwide.  Do we know the full story of the man and how he became who he was and why he succeeded when no one thought he would, yet later he fell from grace and the public eye in such a ruin that the only thing that burned faster than him, was Rome as Nero fiddled. In the end though this is not about his rise and his fall, it is about where his place in history shall end up, written by historians and the American Public and its news agencies. Funny, when we look back now, from 2014 to his time in life and in the public eye, how we can say, it was the last good times in America History, for after he left office, America did start going south, so to say. The American decline that is happening today in the world’s eyes and in our own eyes started once he left office, for in the end he was powerful as a force among leaders, and determined to do things his own way. It is the doing things his own way, that caused his demise and downfall. Sadly, the American public would condemn him as a fool, a criminal and corrupt as all hell, when in fact he did nothing no other person who held the biggest office in the world did, all Presidents before him did it too, he just got caught at it and lied about it, if he had said yes it happened, yes I approved it, yes it is no big deal, all before me did it too, he would have admitted to the fault of all before him as well as himself and the American People would not have driven him from office. Yes, this is all about a man, who grew up a Quaker, and became an American President, yes this is About an American Phoenix, who rose high, soared in his prime and died in a burst of embarrassment and humility and shame. He cried as he left office, he knew what he had done, yet he refused to his dying day to admit his own involvement. Was he protecting his own self, or the country, or those who worked for him? Those are questions that can be answered by the tapes, the writings and documents and court papers, what can’t be explained was his major flaws and his reactions and why he did what he did. Or can it be explained?

His name was Richard Millhouse Nixon, yes, he rose from California, fought great political wars at the side of Eisenhower as his Vice President, and he wanted the Presidency so bad, he fought John F. Kennedy for the office in such a battle for the 1960 election cycle, that he swore no one would have him to kick around anymore, and that he was gone from politics. The Election in 1960 was the closest in American History, to see who would lead us as a country and a people. Kennedy won and died in 1963 to be replaced by his Vice President Johnson, who would not run for a second term.  Nixon would come up from the ashes of political ruin and the wasteland of the political world to run an election campaign that won his the White House. He did get what he wanted finally after more than half his life, but he blew it all starting immediately after he raised his hand and got sworn in. They say that power drives one mad, and ultimate power causes ultimate madness, in this case, it caused a man to lose sight of his original goals, to hide his amazing mistakes in character. Yes, the flaws of Richard M. Nixon would be his own personality flaws of big headiness, stubbornness, paranoia, nerves and in the end misbelief of what his own men did in his name. Nixon, as an individual, had soft spots for friends and hard spots for enemies, he had mad moments of lucid thoughts and mad moments of insane thoughts, yet he commanded respect as a leader, a man and a politician in the world.  Even when action needed to be taken on the economy, the world, wars and other countries, it was indeed far reaching. He mind raced at speeds others couldn’t keep up with, his staff and members of his Cabinet would later talk of how he mystified them, surprised them and disappointed them, but in the end all would agree, his drive and need for attention, as well as his education, served him well, and so did his lawyerly skills from his time as a Lawyer. The amazing, Richard Millhouse Nixon, is right now painted in history as a criminal and a President who failed and killed the trust of the American People. When in fact a careful look at his accomplishments in life and in his Presidential Time in Office, will show in the future he had a vision and a way of controlling the country and making it better.

So who or what established these flaws in a man who could govern a country and make it move forward and contact other countries and open them up to all?  Was it parental choices by his mother who bore him and his father, was it relatives, was it school boy days and interactions, what was it? Will we ever know, that my friends is the question, and how do you or I believe Richard Nixon will be in our History books in the future, what will America teach us about this man, this leader, this person, this President who resigned in disgrace and still fought on after leaving office, to protect his papers and documents and more until his own death. What motivated Richard Nixon, dedication, service, education or duty? Or was it self-preservation, lies and deals, and stubbornness? The answer my friends are blowing in the wind, like Stevie Wonder said, but it is out there if you look carefully enough for it!

Rants/ Elections/ Economy/My Stories and Poems

There are many ways to say to the public hey wake up, but none effective enough for them to listen at all times. Attention getting newscasts lately include Obama did this wrong, Obama did that wrong, we shouldn’t be fighting in Afghanistan, or Iraq or Syria. I believe we don’t need to be policing the world when we can police our own country and survive and help ourselves here at home by creating jobs, helping our own homeless and hungry and closing our borders to all till the Ebola Crisis is over.

That said, we need to get on Congress’s ass, and tell them to generate jobs in all possible ways, give tax breaks to manufacturing companies, extend unemployment and back Obama Care whether you like it or not, or get the hell out of office. The USA is now falling behind the world economy in so many ways, we are being over run by other countries products and paying for their materials cause we don’t produce our own anymore. Sad isn’t it folks?

Whatever happened to BE American, Buy American?  Did we forget so fast that we need to buy our own items in order for our economy to survive? Are we that ignorant folks that, we don’t realize when we buy someone else’s materials or equipment we leave our own economy short of that cash?

One person can not solve the problems we have now in America folks, but I can try to raise hell about the lack or care and respect we give ourselves in this country! I can suggest, cajole, push, recommend and rant over it all, but if no one listens I can’t force change, not one person’s place to do so, but if more look at it the way I do we can effect change by pure numbers in the end!

Talking about change the November 4th elections are coming fast, lets change the House so it works again folks, and if in 2016 you determined to elect a President who can handle the job, then elect people who can help them in the future. The saddest thing we did in the last election was put a Democrat in the White House, but republicans in the House, while the opposing views are fun to watch in action, they tend to stalemate a country that needs helps and advancements, lets wake the hell up folks.

Ok all of the Above said, I have watched millions of Americans become unemployed and unable to find work and slowly go downhill as unemployment runs out. Sad isn’t it? Homeless people living in cardboard boxes, standing by roadsides begging for a place to sleep and food and a job.  What the hell is wrong with America folks, that we allow our own people to be so desperate and no one reacts they just drive right by and not help anyone? Sad is what I tell ya, very sad, what happened to the all for one and one for all spirit we once had?

OK onward and upward so to say! I write poetry, short stories and blogs as we all know. I try to blog about subjects that bother me and the country when I can. Some of my blogs are all rants, some all stories and some even poetry, but at least I attempt to reach out to people and discuss the subjects important to me in the world, more should be doing the same, now if the time to be heard folks.

My Stories and Poems  can be found on Amazon’s KIndle E-Book for sale, yes I am not Hemingway or even Robert Ludlum but I try to make some stories worth people’s time to read. So when you all feel lonely or you need a short story to keep ya busy look them up please and give me a chance to write more and get better at it ok.

Breast cancer Awareness/ Cancer Awareness

After almost 59 years of life, I now face the age of my mother when she died of cancer, yes I know it is possible I can die, or survive depending on how I handle my own cancer. Cancer has run in my family now for generations and sadly it has taken some of the better members of my extended family by surprise. Cancer as we all know is a deadly disease that they have one hell of a time stopping once it starts and can reoccur at any time in the person’s life. It is never really eradicated is it folks, it just become dormant until it overcomes the medications or radiation and chemo and comes back like a bad penny. cancer my friends is a nasty killer and it doesn’t matter, sex, religion, color or any other thing does it, it kills all.

My journey with cancer began in 1971, when my mother dragged us back from Florida where we had moved less than 6 months before, her father had cancer and had died of it it in a Nursing Home, Pancreatic cancer took him. My mother and her brothers and sister buried Grandpa and time went on with out any thought of it again. But cancer has a way of coming back and reappearing in family you may not even know about.

November 1984, I received a phone call as I sat home  one night. When I answered it my Aunt Betty whom I barely knew called to tell me, my real father had died of lung cancer in a New Jersey Hospital. I was surprised and shocked cancer was on my father’s side too, and I packed up my wife and kids and uniforms for I wa serving Uncle Sam’s Navy, took leave and went to bury him. Sadly I had barely knew my father for he and my mom separated when I was nine months old, and I had only met him twice, still I attended.

Time would go on, and I never thought twice until after i was discharged in 1989, my wife and I split and went our separate ways in 1990. I returned home to my parents house who took me in for a short time, and I arrived not knowing my step-father was dying of cancer now too. I watched him slowly get eaten up by cancer too, slowly getting thinner and smaller over a short period of time, in the end he died of cancer in October of 1990 and another funeral was  my next step. During his dying, my siblings and I were called to a hospital and sat down by a doctor who told us mom too was dying of cancer. By October of 1991 mom passed away in a back bedroom of my sister’s house from lung cancer gone another parent, taken by a deadly cancer, lung.

Sadly, there is no way to tell where in your family or life cancer may raise it’s deadly head again. I moved on after grieving both parents and married again, only to run dead into cancer again, once more as my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. We faced it together for her sake and took her to many doctors and spent many hours in consultations. One doctor said taking the breast was the way, another said it wasn’t necessary. Luckily we took her to Sloan Kettering in New York, where the opinion was the limp nodes under her left breast could be removed without breast removal. It worked and she has survived 8 more years already now.Thank God! That was 2006!

2013, August, As I went to see my Veteran’s Administration Doctor at a Veteran’s Hospital, and went through a check-up I started coughing up blood and phlegm, and my doctor stuck me in a cancer survey and had me  take an MRI, diagnosis Lung Cancer for me, nice huh! I was sent to a surgeon in less then a month and operated on, and a lobe and 1/3 of my right lung removed and no more sign of the cancer now! I survived and I was lucky enough to do so without chemo or radiation, so I am healthy enough to keep going for a bit.

The bottom question is, none of us who have had cancer and survive it today, know if it will ever come back or what causes it, we need to get to the bottom of it folks, we need to kill cancer before it kills anyone else! Fight Cancer and yes it is Breast cancer Awareness Month in October here, so pay attention and fight cancer in all forms.

Ebola Advice

As Ebola now has hit the United States in Texas, too many will panic and we could have a disaster if not careful folks, so stay calm. As companies continue to make the vaccine that saved two americans to save many more, we have to be very careful how we handle the situation.

1 Calm is the first step to logical steps

2 Do not have sex or swap spit or fluids with strangers or people from another country.

3 Soap , water, bleach go along way folks, keep clean.

4 If someone is coughing, sweating and sneezing try to avoid all contact.

5 If you think you see an Ebola carrier or someone sick from it, report it to 911 and authorities.

The numbers on the disease are sad in Africa, we do not need to have the same effect here in America!  Don’t be ignorant folks, learn all you can about how Ebola is contacted and how to be careful, don’t stay blind and get it! The uniformed is why it has spread so far all over African nations, and the world, learn people and react in the right ways!

Ebola in America/ Politics

Ebola in America and in Texas ! Should Americans Panic and be overly worried, no, should we be careful, hell yes no matter where, especially in Texas.  But don’t panic and remember to stay calm and away from a possible Ebola patient. It is transferred by body fluids folks, and doesn’t seem to be an airborne transmission!  I am not an expert or a Doctor  but, please look it up and how to avoid getting it. Ebola patients are cleaned thoroughly with Bleach, their clothes are burned and destroyed then they are isolated once found. So panicking will not help anyone ok! Be calm and if you get a fever, chills, diarrhea, and swear big time, head for a hospital and tell them you may have Ebola so they can help you and contain you so it does not spread to everyone.

Secondly, please remember Ebola’s cause and it’s treatments are not fully known, but America is creating a vaccine right not in huge numbers as they go along. We are the only nation so far to be able to combat Ebola in some way and save victims of it, we have saved two already. So, let manufacture the vaccine and then get people who have Ebola contained and treated so we can work to kill Ebola . Ok?

On the political front, the mid-term elections are almost upon us. We need to make some changes folks and do so now, before 2016 to be ready for the future and to get the country moving forward again.

1- Remove from the House of Representatives it’s Majority Leader Boehner, John one each non-military issue ok!

2- Don’t allow anyone in the house who has boycotted, or filibustered bills to stay in office.

3- Change the House and senate Balance to back which ever Presidential Candidate you think will win in 2016.

4- Get the House to stop backing bills and improving our economy by voting those that are stopping movement out.

5-E-mail or call your Congressman or Senator and tell them to create jobs and extend Unemployment and reeducate

the Blue Collar workers to work in White Collar jobs. Tell them to give Manufacturing a chance to come back by

Lowering the Tax Rates for them? And push Innovation please.

6- Before they vote on anything in The House or Senate, they should consider the middle class and lower class and

Help all of us not just the rich!

In closing today’s blog I want to say thank you to all who read it daily or weekly, I am trying to stir an interest in

Things that need correcting in America and for the american People not other nations. we can lead by example, not         by Policing Nations and bailing them out. Bring the Troops home and use the money to build an Economy and Jobs!

Can America Move Forward Once More?

America, America God Shed his Grace on Thee, Remember those words folks, I do and so should every American period, we are the luckiest nation in the world with many of the best brains in the world alive. we have tech others don’t, yet we don’t have jobs for all. We have the best medical experts in the world, yet we have sick and dying people still, we proclaim ourselves the world leaders in many areas, but are we really?

Here are a few questions for what we call the best form of Government in the world! 1) Why if we are the best is our economy dying and so many people out of work and begging on our streets? 2) Why do we have homeless people living in cardboard boxes and begging for food and warmth? Why do we not have jobs like we did back in the 1950s, 1960s, what happened folks? 3) Why doesn’t Congress move it’s ass and roll up it’s sleeves and go to work, instead of inter party fighting, bickering and stalemating each other? 4) Do we need politicians sent to The House and Senate who won’t compromise and try to kill anything the other party puts forward, no matter if it’s good or not for the American People? 5) Why isn’t Congress doing what Roosevelt did, create jobs, instill pride, build factories and encourage innovation to lead to success, what is wrong with our system today? Someone please explain to me why America is failing it’s own lower class and middle class and only enriching the upper class? Since when did America become a society and a country just for the upper-class? Some Please explain?

I was born in 1956, and raised in the crazy 1960s and 1970s. When I was a child kids read books, and comic books, they play tag, hide and seek and other games outside, not sitting in front of a television playing video games or in front of a computer screen! In the 1960s, when a child was hurt it didn’t matter what color their skin, or what sex, it was a child and everyone defended and helped that child!  People had an attitude of one for all and all for one back then, what the hell has happened to America?  If a Person had a flt tire back then as they drove somewhere, people would ask if they needed help and help if they could, today it doesn’t happen that way. Get a flat tire today and you sit tilla tow truck comes or you change it yourself and people fly by in their cars never thinking twice about you. Sad isn’t it?

Back in the 1960s and 1970s someone was hungry, people would buy them a meal and help them, today no way. Are Americans so self -absorbed now they just don’t give a damn anymore? Seems it to me, seems that Americans have gone from the we society to the me society, who gives a shit about the next person! Everything is me, me, me, I want, I want, I want, greed has entered the equation of life so bad in America, people kill each other over video game consoles and video games, sad huh!

In the end, I will give you an example of what I mean. The other day, I drove down to a mall here in Connecticut, standing on a corner was a Father, his wife and a little boy holding a sign, Help Us, we have no home , food , Please! Big Sign he held up and people flew by in cars no one looking or paying attention! Why? To help the guy I gave him a twenty dollar bill and said buy some food and feed your kid and wife. I told him to go to a shelter and get help, no one else did! Back in the 1960s, I was stung by a bee, in a project in the North end of waterbury. I cried I was young maybe 5 years old, I am white folks, and a black woman, who was the kindest woman I ever meet, ran out her front door and helped me. She looked at the sting, calmed me and put a mud pack on it, and it sucked the stinger out of me! She didn’t have to do it, she did it because she cared and wasn’t worried about color, status or anything else. Isn’t it great to know someone cared back then!  What happened?

Here is the final question Americans, can we as a United people get back together, and care about one another again and move America forward, together for all?

October / Jobs, Homeless/ Hungry

October is here folks, yep it’s fall time and the weather is changing, the temperatures are dropping and so are the leaves! Baseball Playoffs will begin, and Football is a Sunday mainstay  each weekend for many. But the economy is not changing much, times are rough all around for the MIddle-Class and the Lower Class. The Upper-Class, has money and doesn’t care about the rest of us for sure, so we struggle on in an economy bogged down by a loss of jobs, and flowing cash is hard to find. When will it change folks, when will the middle class and the lower class get a chance to live again in America?

As Factories close each day, so do brick and mortar stores it seems. We lost Caldors, we lost Bradlees, we are losing KMart next in December, so it goes to prove folks, money is tight. Sears is in trouble, JC Penny is in trouble too, is it the death of the brick and mortar store era? Stores like Best Buy struggle daily and so do so many others what the hell is going on? And why is it all happening? Someone should tell people to stop building stores and malls, you can build them all you want folks, but if no one has money to spend they are good for nothing more than an attraction for people to walk in!

I figured I would air that rant for now today, I mean isn’t it crazy, no factories, no jobs for the blue collar class, and no way for them to be accepted into the white collar class without tons of education and licensing crazy isn’t it. From the early 1900s till in the early 1990s factories and their workers held the american economy up and gave people places to earn money and survive. Today those same factory workers who are blue collar workers can’t find a job and are living month to month or week to week on  almost nothing and hurting. Can’t Congress extend Unemployment benefits and help these people by creating jobs or retraining them for the white collar jobs available so they can at least compete and survive? Why doesn’t Congress react and move? I wonder this everyday as I drive through cites in Connecticut like Waterbury, Bridgeport  , Seymour, Ansonia and West  Haven and New Haven and such! Why, are our cities and towns falling down, simple people have no place to work and are hanging in the streets, and begging for money and help and no one listens.  I see homeless standing on corners begging for food, shelter, and a place to work, why? Someone should tell Uncle Sam and Connecticut to help these folks, they need shelter and food and a place to survive!
