Today is the 23rd of January and I wonder how our brand new President is doing and thinking about the job he took, now?

As the world turns and places burned and people die, we all have to sit and ponder and wonder why? That the truth these days, I just hope all Americans, have paid off their mortgages and bills, and are saving money the best they can. If not then you didn’t heed my advice, before the election, in November.

Next subject folks, as a Disabled American Veteran, I find myself in a state of being able to do only so many things these days. I am not as physically fit as I was in my younger days when I gave my body and mind to my country, to serve it for sixteen years. So I not doing many things physically I used to do. So I have to find, different things to busy my mind and take up my time and writing is it these days. I take ideas from out of my memory and turn them into stories on paper or as word documents and hope they sell. I am not a great writer, but I try to tell my stories in such a way that all can read them if they wish and I hope enjoy them.

Will I sell any, I have no idea really, I try by posting them in Kindle E-books for sale, the purpose is not to get rich folks, my purpose is to say something and get the stories out, and help my wife and myself survive we are both cancer victims.

My wife God Bless Her, is a cancer victim since 2006 when breast cancer hit her and I sat through her radiation and cancer treatments back them, side by side with her. Then she went into remission and now ten years later here it is again back, but this time not just breast cancer, but it has spread to her bones, bone cancer.

I went through lung cancer myself in 2012, and had a lobe and 1/3rd of my right lung removed, so I could survive. I am doing OK , right now, but cancer can come back in many ways and forms. So I shall see, what happens next for me. My concern is not me folks, it is my wife, as I watch her battle on afraid to take chemical concoctions  the Doctors have put together for her to survive I wonder how much more can her body and mind and spirit take?

I wake up each day, and wait a few seconds before I get out of bed to see or hear if she is still with me, each day. Is she breathing, is she moving, all I can do is hop she is ! Once she moves or I hear her breathing, I know she will be with me another day. That is how life goes here one day at a time, one moment at a time. when she comes down for the day and has her morning tea and tries to get her stuff done she always does in her routine and then heads for the lazy boy recliner, she bought for me, originally and passes out, I wonder again will her eyes open once more and she suddenly pops back to life with her eyes wide open. Looking around like she forgot where she is, till it registers with her she is home and safe with me. I watch her, I try to care for her, I clean for her, I water her plants, I clean her cats boxes, I help her dress and I stand by while she takes a shower in case she needs help, and at times I wash her and her hair. I help her dress, and take her to Doctors, because she can not drive anymore and I wonder and wonder more about how long she may have left. Do I know, do the Doctors know as her aches and pains grow in her joints and bones and she struggles to stop hurting, and to get around. she is stubborn, persistent and I love her can do attitude, for she has never given up. we have been together now, going on twenty five years and I know I love her today as much as I did when I met her.

                     Anyway, just so ya all know, my story of Ms. Amazing’s Battle is all about her and I and our struggles and determination together against Cancer the deadly disease. So I have posted it with all the rest of my short stories on Amazon’s kindle E-Books for sale to see if I can help make our ends meet the battle so to speak. I hope some will see my stories and if not for the way I write or the words I put sown, but for our fight against cancer will buy some. Writing can be taught to people, but language can too, but manners and ethics, beliefs, sometimes can not. Sadly, in this world too many were not taught all of the things I speak about here. The old ways of raising children has died and become the Cosby way these days. Talk to them, don’t hit them they say, use psychology they say, yet people don’t pay enough attention to their children, to accomplish the teaching of these things.

I am soon to turn 61 years old in a few days, I have been to stores and parks and many more places in the world in my travels around it, and only in america do parents allow their children to do what they please. When I grew up in the 1960s we had rules to live by as children, 1) no talking back to your parents, 2) Clean up after yourself period, if you didn’t,you didn’t get or do anything, period.. 3) Chores were assigned to you to teach you responsibility 4)You behaved when your parents took you out or you did not get to go anywhere anymore. 5) Parents were parents in all ways back then, today they are over grown children having children. School days were school days, and you went unless extremely sick or dead,. 6) You behaved in school or you paid a price, you didn’t want to pay in School and at home.7) Family was family and that was it, they came first period 8) Some parents even required you to go to church and Sunday School classes.

Today a child doesn’t read a book anymore, they look at their I-Pad, or tablet or lap-top and  that is their world, and of course that includes, a X-Box of some sort or a Play Station or Nintendo gaming system. Where they can play for hours and hours in front of a large Television flat screen. Just watch them and you will see what I am talking about, how many of them today do you see sitting reading a real book, with hard covers on them, none I bet. What happened to the values we were taught when I was a child and the manners we were taught too. Does anyone know or can anyone tell me? What happened to sleds, skates both roller and ice, what happened to parks?  What happened to Drive In Movies, swimming at the beach, or hiking up a trail? Do these kids today know what exercise is?

Watch them eat too, too many eat with their hands, or eat far too much then they should and end up obese. Their parents feed them sugar and junk foods to make them happy, then complain when they get hyper and don’t behave, yet still don’t correct them, sad isn’t it?  The old days with a swat on the ass or upside the head doesn’t exist anymore and we get more hoodlums, thieves and bums and bullies, we should stop it all by teaching our children right and paying attention. If you can’t raise a child properly and teach them, don’t have them! Use contraceptives, use birth control, or abstain from sex, once you make a child, commit to raising it properly in society. The rest of the world is watching, as we see grown men with their asses and underwear hanging out walking in stores and on the streets, we see bullies beating innocent children and women up and harming the uneducated or disabled. It’s sad America, wake the hell up!

I did not vote for Donald trump for President, and he won anyway, but at least if you look at his children he raised them right, by all I see. They are respectful, clean, neat, intelligent and can converse and interact with mankind. That much I will give him. Learn people learn, to take care of your children, teach them manners, ethics, morals and beliefs, that make them better human beings, it’s only right if you want your children to be better off in this world than you were, educate them, take away their toys for a while and make them read!

Do you dream of being a Princess, a King, a scientist, a champion, a hero, or have depression problems and dream of bums, or thoughts of killing someone? Do you want to survive till 100 and know how to do it, can you help people lose weight or learn something, can you motivate people? Or is there history you love and disagree with or agree with? Whatever it is that interests you, you can write and achieve in your mind, you can achieve in a article or book you write.

Write of fantasies, write of  a world you invent, write of theories and events, write, write, write, that is what I say !  I think writing is good for those who do it, it’s good therapy and a good way to release, tension, emotions and stress, bleed it out into words. Just do it folks, do it well too, break out dictionaries, and Strunk and more to help, use, do research online to improve knowledge. Write for more need knowledge, more need to learn, more need to read and put down their electronic devices, stop staring at I-Pads, tablets, Phones and televisions, read folks, learn some.

Across the world, people are reading less, less know what a library is or how to use one, look around you, ask yourself and your friends, when was the last time you read a good book, or a magazine or newspaper in a library? I bet many have learned what  a library  is, but very few use them. Sad isn’t it?

Information in the world is now all online, and it is growing folks, but, there is nothing better than a quiet time, a good book, a fireplace and peace and quiet to read it in! I know the new generation, all think the internet is everything and can’t live without it, on their cell phones, lap tops and tablets, but the world needs books to document it’s history, to express it’s feelings and to relax with. Remember one thing folks, the history of  the world is in books, the difference in cultures and romance and nationalities and more is all there.

         The human mind is fragile folks, very fragile, not all are the same, the mind can go places the individual it controls may not want to. One of those places it goes is called depression, that places were everything scares someone, you can’t respond, you close yourself in from mankind and the world and a deep funk comes over you.

              So what is depression and why does it affect the human mind? Depression is caused by many things, chemical imbalances in the brain is one, the second is societal treatment of a person as they are growing up, the way ones family rejects the child, for one reason or another, how one sibling treats another, how a parent can mistreat a child also, so many factors can put a person over the edge and into a depressive state. Once in a depressive state you may need chemicals/ drugs to come out of it,and be yourself again.

          While most Doctors will tell you depression is a chemical imbalance of the brain, and basically they are right, there is the societal causes to depression you can fight.

               1) Home and family life is vital to staying out of depression. If your family does not accept you, or treats you like a black sheep, you may fight back so much that you finally give up, and into depression we go.

                 2) Self esteem and a loss of it from being put down, or cast aside or rejected, can fling you into depression also. Repetition in this case, will make you believe what others say about you after a while, get away from these people who do it.

                  3) Being used or abused as a child or adult can also trigger depression, if someone is abusing you get away, ask for help, find a Doctor or person who will accept you for you, that is the first  thing to do.

                   4) Interaction socially is vital to the human brain and heart and soul, don;t isolate yourself if you feel depressed, get out see friends, family you like or love and who accept you. Isolation can kill a human being, and damage the brain so bad.

                       5) Last Advice I can give on depression, we all get depressed a little at times, it’s when you get depressed and can’t get out of it or it overtakes your life, you need to reach out most. talk to someone you love, talk to a Doctor, get help, or assistance, don’t hide. Your a part of life, and a part of the World and human kind, be a part of it, and do the best you can, never, ever, give up!

 

 

A Walk through a Writers Mind

Take a walk with me, through a writers mind, see the things I see, hear the words I hear, smell the smells I do, taste the foods I do and get lost in my imagination. Let me take you to places I have been or you wish you could go, let me introduce you to people and characters you would never know.

A walk through a writers mind is like a walk through Disney Land and Sea World and so many amusement parks out there, It is also a walk through the dark side of the mind, at times where murders are created and put on paper but never acted out in reality. A walk back in time maybe, through history and events, or a walk back into your own life or one similar to yours, one where you can compare or just plain fear, what can happen next.

Writing many say, is like bleeding out a story from your soul and heart and mind onto a piece of paper. Each word, phrase or character must fit, the writers perceptions, yet also, fit the readers perceptions or it doesn’t work. What makes it work is a writer who can stick to the basics while expanding the story to such a wide audience, it sells and entices all. Not an easy mission folks, if you’re a writer, is it?

The Biggest surprise for any writer is when they find their story, characters, scenes or words have hit an audience and captured their attention and they are actually reading it. It’s thrill to sell your first book, to anyone, no matter how you sell it, but it’s a bigger thrill, when, what happened to me, happened.

I wrote a story and published it for sale, through Amazon.com/ E-Books and placed it up for sale at .99 cents a copy, hoping to make a few bucks to help my wife and I pay for her cancer treatments and to survive. What I found out was the price point was far too low and some people, 4 to be prices, bought my .99 cent book and started selling it on E-bay for almost ten dollars a shot!. First I was shocked and angry over it and thought they were stealing my book and my manuscript. Then a second thought occurred to me, they are selling my book at a higher price than I am, and putting my work and name out there too, so it is like advertising. I finally came to a conclusion, the latter was the best thing for me, so I went back into my Amazon Account and changed the prices on my books, to something I can make a profit off of without killing the customer or myself. The .99 cent price point or free giveaways will get you noticed but people take advantage of it all, like the four I mentioned here. All I wanted to do, was make a few bucks and sell a few books and get noticed, I had no idea, people out there would pay the .99 cents for my book and then reprice it 10 times higher than I did and sell it on E-bay. Sadly that is what happened! I shall survive it of course but the shock of it, was intense for a bit of a while. Interesting enough, right? So if you write and sell your books online in Amazon or any other site like it, make sure, you price them right, and keep an eye open, for what others may do.

Keep writing and journeying through the spaces and places of your mind, make them believe the world, take places and people from history and talk about them, write about them and give people a place in your books to lose themselves, to enjoy themselves and make it all intriguing, unique and sometimes even wild. When you walk through my mind, you will find all of the above, for I am a writer. I see things I remember then, incorporate them into my stories and books and use them in such a way, people want to know what is next. That is what it is all about folks, write, entice,, and write some more, then go back and read what you wrote, edit it, take out what doesn’t work, and replae it or just remove it for good. It is all up to that imagination you have and the life you live.

A Walk through my mind is different than a walk through Stephen Kings, or Robert Ludlums or anyone else’s mind. For the thoughts, colors and characters we write about came from somewhere in our lives and are changed by way of our perceptions of them. And no two people perceive things the same do there? Writing is bleeding your emotions and heart and soul onto a page by way of pencil and paper or a computer keyboard, matters not which you use, but it does matter if you do it. The world is full of people who can’t read or write, or don’t know how to voice their stories or tales, a writer’s job, is basically making those heard, whether they come from them or someone else.

So if you take a walk through a writers mind, remember the colors, the sights, the scenes, the conversations and actions all are colored by something in our lives. We convey it all to you by words, and that is a writer’s job too. We correct language, spelling, punctuation and more as we go along,  we are walking word dictionaries! Our thoughts will get jumbled at times like yours folks, but when they do, we have a method to sort it all out, we write it down and reread it and edit it. Writing is not as easy as you may think, try it and see and you will learn, communication through writing can be much more harder than communication through speech. Yet it can be so much more rewarding, when people buy your works or read them and give you good comments or reviews, it’s amazing. Believe me !!!

Last night I was checking my profile and name on the internet, to see if anyone had placed any reviews on their blogs, for any of my books or stories I wrote.

I came upon two things one was a person who wrote a whole page review of my story- Corner of Danger and Trouble Streets and they raved on it and recommended it to all.

The second thing I found surprised me, and then first angered me, then pleased me.Four people had taken my story; Hanging in Dealy Plaza, and bought it cheap on Amazon.com and were selling it on E-bay for ten times the price I was selling it on Amazon. I was totally angry at first then I realized these people liked my story so much they decided to resell it on E-Bay for a profit for themselves. So, after discussing it with my wife and my sister, I went back to Amazon and repriced my book, for a lower price to undercut the others. Now I shall wait and see what happens next, but I dod know by them selling it at a higher price, which I have no idea if it is selling for them, they are putting my name out there and my work on E-bay. Not bad for free advertising, by people who like my work!

So I learned a few things from all of this, One, check your profile and name online, and two, price your work, carefully. I have been doing ok so far, with it all, since December 19, 2016 till now, 81 people have downloaded my lil books for free during my giveaway and another 7 or 8 have bought them outright, not too shabby for an old coot, lol

The House at the Corner of Danger and Trouble Streets

In 1969, there was a home on the corner of Danger and Trouble Streets, a mansion, built of solid brick all red with green awnings over its doorways and windows. A rich family lived there by the name of  Hermane, with both parents, and three sons. Paul and Patty Hermane met in high school in their teens and grew up and got married at 18 years old, and Paul became a broker who hit the market at the right time, he made millions within 3 years. The children came two years apart, all three in 6 years of course and all boys. By 27 years old the Hermanes were a piece of the town so ingrained that their neighbors knew all five of them on a first name basis and all people would say is they were generous and friendly and kind they shared their wealth by helping others and made donations to everything they could to help their town. They were loved by all, and no one would say a bad word about them.

                                        Part 1

 

On July 4^th, 1969 the Hermanes home went quiet, deadly quiet, and no one saw the Hermanes anymore. The Police waited a while, a period of thirty days before they went looking for the Hermanes, as they searched their home and property, not one clue was found to locate them or as to where they did go, they just suddenly disappeared, vanished. None of the parents’ families had any idea where they were or heard from them, nor did any friends of the family. It seems, a mystery, became of what happened to the Hermanes.

I hope some will buy and read it, it’s actually a short story based on a real life one!
