9/11, /History/Cancer Fight/Red Sox

America do not ever forget 9/11, do not ever forget unless we stick together as one people indivisible under God and Constitution, we can be overcome or hurt. That was proven on 9/11 with the dastardly attacks that hits us and the lives we have lost on that day and since from the after effects. we struggle each day to maintain our position as a leader and peacemaker of the world, but we can’t continue to do so forever. There comes a time when America must recoup and withdraw and allow someone else to provide and do the duties necessary to keep the earth going. So, if France, Russia, Italy, England, or any other country has the audacity or strength to stand tall and help Syria and their people do so now! America has helped the world through two World Wars, Korean Wars and Policing, Vietnam and Policing of it too. We have run to the rescue of Iraqis. Afghanistan’s , and many more, who has ever come to America’s rescue at any time, say hello to France who helped us way back in out Revolutionary War. We repaid them many times over and ever rebuilt Japan after their deadly attack on Pearl harbor and our Retaliation for it against them. No other nation has been so damn generous as to forgive and forget those who attacked them and rebuild them too. Isn’t time we stopped saving the world and save ourselves here at home?

Yes folks I am back after my cancer surgery and the removal of almost three quarters of one lung. Was one long september 3rd 2013 for me, I went at in 8 am and didn’t come out until 8 pm. I spent 5 days in the hospital in bandages and tubes, and trying to learn to breathe again and walk. Pushing the edges and parameters of walking and breathing is vital in my case.

Come Saturday I will go to BOston’s Fable and Famed Fenway Park for the first time in my 57 year old life, as a treat given to a sick cancer victim by his sister and her boyfriend. They got the tickets so I will be seating right next to the Red Sox Dug Out as I watch the Yankees come into Boston to face my Red Sox. It will be one of the greatest pleasure of my life, to sit in Fenway, relax, watch a game with my Wife, Sister and her boyfriend and before we go I just want to say an open Thank You to them, for being there for me during my surgery and afterwards The Red Sox treat or game as I shall call it, gave me something to look forward to before surgery, after surgery and during my recovery. I love my Red Sox, Big Poppi, Dustin, and Jacoby are my favorites and my heros on the team. Clay is the best pitcher in Red Sox history since Beckett. A Great thing is happening in Boston and I am proud to be a Red Sox Fan!

End of Lung Cancer Surgery/ Next Step Fenway Park, Yankees, Red Sox Saturday game!

Recovering From Cancer Surgery that happened on September 3rd, discharged on September 8th, 2013 and am now at Home. I am looking forward to going to Fenway park for the first time in my life, to see my Red Sox take and the New York Yankees as they head to the playoffs! Seat will be right next to the Red Sox Dugout, and I hope to see Big Pappi and Dustin and  Jacoby E. up close! This game has been the motivation for my recovery from lung cancer, I have never had the money or time to go to Fenway and now with the Lung Cancer Operation over I am looking forward to a good time.

24 hours/Cycle of Life/No to Syria/Poems

24 Hours from now I shall be laying on a hospital cart and being rolled into surgery and being put under for my operation. Who knows what else they can find in me as they go to take my middle lobe of my right lung and the mass in it out.

Is it Cancer, is it nonsmall cell/ or small cell, did it spread to my lymph nodes and throughout my body or into my bloodstream?  Or is it localized and then removed with no fear of spreading anywhere?  Only time shall tell now!

Anyway, as I said once before to an old friend of mine, when your not looking things show up and in this case that is what happened with this mass in my lung. Never knew it was there until, a screening scan was done by my Doctor at the Veteran’s Hospital in West Haven, Thanks doc, I hope we got it soon enough now is all I can say!

Thinking back lately, I remember too, I always wished I was older when I was younger so I could do all the things adults could do, now I am the adult and older, and wish I was young enough to have the energy I had when I was younger to do it all! Funny how that happens to you, it’s like the cycle of life telling you, you have come almost full circle.

American Military might should not be brought to bear in Syria! Blockade Syria, cut off all aid and entries and exits from it, starve the Syrian Government out! The first missile we drop in Syria will drag America into a quicksand pit of hurt, pain and money eating war. I believe like many Syria is wrong in using chemical weapons, but, I also believe we as Americans can not afford to be the police force of The Middle East or the World anymore. Let someone else step up and solve this problem!

Education/Syria/Surgery/Poems

When you’re growing up, you have dreams, wants and needs, yet you don’t recognize what they are until you’re older. A home, love, caring, emotional stability are all a part of it, food, water, medical care are more needed. Education is next as we all know and many of us don’t think about that education until we are beyond it and then we go why didn’t I go further in school. Sad isn’t it, for education is what can make or break an individual, the more you know the further you can go for pay, benefits, health care and respect in the world. Stay in School kids, learn, listen, question, get answers to the questions that are vital in the world and in life, so you can contribute to the world, America and Societies everywhere.  Please remember what my Step-Father told the five children he raised, two that were not his, You can do anything you put your mind to, just stick with it! A truer phrase has never been said on the planet earth!

Last night I saw a movie on Television about a man who was taken as a lowly factory worker and turned into a political contender and leading spokesman for education for children. All he needed was a little diction help, a dictionary and constant encouragement. No they didn’t take away his down to earth personality, but thy give him a public persona and make him speak properly, but in the end the words that came out of his mouth were his own. Learning how to conduct yourself in public is vital. It again proved what my step-father said, you can do whatever you put your mind to, all you have to do is be persistent, have a drive and want, you will get there!

My next subject is Syria and it’s internal troubles and the use of chemical weapons in the world. Whether Assad did use them out of fear of being over run, or to control the rebellion he is facing makes no difference, in the end he knew better than to release them into the atmosphere around his own people or anyone else. Sadly someone in his regime, decided to do so and they will pay for it shortly. I don’t disagree with making them pay for this, what I do disagree with is why America? Can’t Obama, Israel, France, Britain, and other countries, get together a coalition of Mideast Countries surrounding him in his area to stop his foolish games and to stop this.  Where is Jordan, where are the other Arab states and countries that live there and why don’t they react? America can not continue to be the world wide Police Force to enforce the laws and regulations, we have enough problems of our own at home.

Ok enough on that one folks. Next, my surgery date is now two days away, and my thoughts turn to how it is going to go once I am on the operating table and what they will find in my lung and how bad it may be. yes I do worry about it all, and wonder if my tumor in my lung is nonsmall cell cancer, small cell cancer, what stage and did it spread in my lymph nodes or blood stream throughout my bodies systems. Will I need chemo/ will I need chemo and radiation and how will I handle it all? The answers are all coming folks quickly, so I hope, they will be positive answers and keep me alive for a while longer. I shall fight no matter what!

Today being Sunday, I decided to end this blog with a few poems I hope you enjoy them:

Dare

I dream of her night and day,
Her fragrance seeps in to my being,
Her thoughts and words come back to me,
How did this happen, from whence did she come,
A surprise a wonder is what she may be,
But the Lord, brought her here to me.

Each day and night, through happiness and sadness and fright,
I remember her words, her thoughts, her looks, her fragrance,
They are now a part of me,
A part she doesn’t notice or really see.

These dreams come at night and during the day,
They reoccur, and keep me aware,
That out there she is, missing me as I do her,
Why neither of us can ever be sure.

Her smile, her touch,
They mean so much ,
Can she know what they really mean to me,
Is this something she can see?

I may never know,
For she darts through my life, like a mystical light,
They shinning and then gone,
As I watch and wonder and hope and ponder,
Whether she shall ever notice me or care?
Should I ask, should I speak, should I say I care,
I hesitate, in confusion and in fear,
Will I ever take the chance and say a word,
Should I, Could I, Do I Dare?

Why Must the Days End?
By William

Why do the days have to end?
Why do the nights have to come?
The Darkness rolls in,
Night reminding me,
Of, my past, my sin.

I didn’t know what you wanted or needed,
You refused to say,
So now I wonder and think,
All night and through the day.

I go thru life, a statement reverberating in my mind,
It’s one I carry with me,
And shall for all time.

My father, laid dying on his bed you see,
And these are the words he said to me:
My son he said my days have come and gone,
I shall leave you before for long.

But live you life to the fullest and enjoy,
Do today what you love the most,
Enjoy life to the fullest, and love those around you the deepest,
For though I be gone and you may cry,
Please remember these words, I give you to keep and hold.
Live your life with honesty and truth,
Be happy, be true, be honest and be bold.

As I leave you now he said:
I shall be gone and you will cry,
But remember this is not really goodbye.

We are all put here for a purpose, yes a plan.
When we fulfill that purpose our time has come,
And our life is done, and I am just a man.

The days will pass, the weeks will come and go,
The weeks, will turn to months, the months to years,
And over time, you will, have cried all of your tears.
But live your life for each day you are here,
For the calendar will continue to roll,
Time will pass before you know,

In the end my son,
We all eventually do what we have been put here for,
And our time is done.

Then he rolled his head, in his bed,
The vomit came, his eyes rolled back in his head,
And peacefully, and in silence he was dead.

I remember that day oh so well,
I remember the fishing trips, the pizzas, the laughter and the tears,
And have carried his words, with me and lived them for all my years.

Choices/Tuesday/Syria/Stories

Choices, we make them everyday in our lives. Some were made for us before we were old enough to make our own or before we knew what was being done period. For instance we didn’t make the choice of who we were born to, or what we look like, or what we will become. Those were decisions controlled by our parents, at least for us who were born in the 40’s 50s and 60s. Our generation still grew up with the old ways of raising kids, where a smack on the ass or a whack upside the head was still ok. Today such a thing would get a child to file for divorce from their parents or to be arrested.

We can’t make the choices of where we attend Elementary School or even High School, but we do learn to pick friends and avoid enemies on our own. Funny how that happens as we grow older isn’t it and logic, reason and common sense seep into us and we realize what we are doing affects others not just ourselves.

We can’t stop the child abuse we suffer through either, we can’t stop the mental pain, physical or emotional bullshit thrown at us by parents and siblings, but it all adds up to who we become as adults, hard to believe right, but true. We didn’t ask to be called names, we didn’t ask to be slapped, punched and beaten by our parents, we ask to be called stupid, retarded, emotionally damaged or anything else, but we got it, by so called adults who gave birth to us and were called mom and dads. Sad isn’t it, how some parents should never have been parents!. But the fact is we all are human, we all make mistakes, the best any child who is now an adult living in society can do, is to stop the endless cycle of pain and suffering by not passing it on in their children. Cycles will kill if they continue. I am happy to have had two daughters by my first wife, I don’t know them too well but enough to know my leaving hurt both of them in one way or another. I have tried to make it up to both of them in recent years and hope they now understand that I didn’t control what happened their mother did, and I lived through the pains of it myself. I did find them again 14 years later and try harder then hell to make things right for all of us. It’s all a father can do for his children he never really had a chance to know fully.

Tuesday is coming fast for me, and it is not a day I look forward to of course since it is surgery day to remove the middle lobe of my right lung and the tumor in it. More than likely it will lead to a course of chemo or chemo and radiation next. But at least I will be alive and still here, to enjoy grandchildren and my wife some more. Like I said choice we can make, destinies and fates, I can not control and nor can I control cancer in my body. But I can fight it and will with every fiber of my being!

Next subject Syria, it must be stopped from using chemical weapons on it’s own people and the possible  expansion of that use to other nations. Yet why is America always the police Force to Patrol And control the world? We can’t keep doing it folks, we don’t have the economic power, the political power of the need to get our asses kicked and our people killed for others who care not one bit about us. Lets stay out, don’t put boots on the ground in Syria, don’t send missiles in either, support the resistance yes, but damn don’t make us any more in danger or hated in the world than we are now. Understand I am a disabled Veteran and I am as patriotic as every American who ever served, but we don’t need to waste our troops, weapons and money on a nation that cares less about us then we do them. In History the only nation to help us was France during our Revolutionary War, so why do we continue to police the world at a high cost to us?

Syria/ Congress/Hillary 2016/ Surgery/ Stories

Welcome to August 30th, 2013, Syria is still a problem as it’s leaders gas it’s citizens, and President Obama must make a decision to act on his own or not act at all. Britain has declined to participate, an assault on Syria and America would have to go by ourselves. I disagree with any entry into Syria by American forces or weapons provided by us. We can not afford entry into a war we cannot win alone, and it is far too stupid to intervene, when our resources are spread so thin. If President Obama is smart he will find a Middle East Coalition Force to do the job, instead of getting involved. I have heard all the patriotic folks of the military and veterans speak up saying if we don’t do it who will, well how about saying why Americans and not natives to their own middle east area?

Next Subject, Congress and it’s so called voting and control of what moves forward in America and what does not. Congress and the leaders of it on both sides of the fence need to wake up and move through health care, leave Obama Care alone and shore up medicare, medicaid and Social Security and The U.S. Postal service. Sadly, Congress is long jamming any progress by refusing to agree to anything put forward by the President and his people. Thus the American Economy and the people living in it suffer and fall further behind the world instead of leading it. Soon, we shall fall not only in credit limits and respect, but as a leader in economic ways to a also ran and that ladies and gentleman will prove to the world America is not invincible anymore!

Being as it is now 2013 and the next Presidential Election shall be November of 2016, I believe Americans must now search for Obama’s replacement and we need Hillary Rodham Clinton. Tough, smart, logical and savvy Mrs. Clinton would work to improve America’s status in all ways and keep us out of wars we don’t belong in. Plus we would also get a support system for her and great advisor in former President Bill Clinton to back her up. America could not do wrong with Hillary Clinton as it’s first female President and she deserves it and has earned not only her place as a Stateswoman  Senator, and politician and Former First Lady, but as a strong knowledgeable individual who has strength of character and soul. Hillary 2016 I say folks!

Well today being August 30th, 2013 I am now 4 days from my surgery on September 3rd, 2013. As I have said before removal of the middle lobe of my right lung is what it will be, removing not one the lobe but the mass inside it all at once. Recovery should not be too bad they say and invasion of my body will be minimal they say. four or five cuts through my rib cage, slits. Then the cutting off of the lobe and dragging it out through one of the openings. Then the biopsy will take place and I can learn what the mass really is, if cancer what kind and the stage and what treatments will be next. Should be a an interesting journey for me and the Doctor too.

MLK JR./Syria/Talk Shows?/Surgery

Yesterday was the 50th Anniversary of Martin Luther King Jrs. Freedom Speech and the march on Washington, DC., as thousands gathered around the Tidal Pool in Washington, and Abraham Lincoln looked out over the crowd, you could feel the awe inspiring faith that came from his speech descend over all as three American Presidents stepped to the podium and spoke about it all and their feelings.  The crowd was filled with blacks, whites, hispanics and asians all Americans and they looked up and saw the way of the world come into focus for all. Mankind will never be free as long as there is fighting among the races, nationalities, for equality, we need equality now for all and thank god, America is leading the way towards that. In Unity there is peace, understanding and caring! America must be the place for peace and unity not divided by race, nationality , or religion, ever!

Syrians are running scarred and worried about America’s intention to step in and end their civil war by weapons they don’t have and for peace for them. I agree with their worries at this point, America can not step into a war zone or civil war of other nations without being dragged down, like a body into quicksand overtime and never being able to get out. We can not afford to stretch our military forces too much further nor can we financially and mentally take on a task we can not win.  If President Obama sees fit to step in, I hope it is with the understanding we can not be the leader in the effort. Another nation closer to the country of Syria should step up and be the one to host troops and weapons to stop the genocide in Syria.

Finally my last rant of the day, someone please tell me the purpose of these stupid talk shows, that rave and rant on pregnant women and relationships that no one cares about out there? Why do people watch Jerry, and Murray and other shows like that, there is no educational value to them and they are not really entertainment so what is the fascination with them? I have no idea, for all they do is make the people on them look like idiots and fools and give the hosts a boast on the air, sad but true. Nothing good ever came from any of these stupid shows.

Well, My Surgery date is approaching pretty fast now, today is August 29th, I go in on September 3rd. I feel a little worried about it all for I have never had major surgery before and it is scarey when someone says cancer to you. It is even scarier when they say lung cancer and a lobe must be removed. For you know not what else they may find besides one tumor or the stage or kind of cancer it may be. So the future can look very bleak, if you stare at odds on a Cancer Site too, I know I did it and scared myself sick almost. All one can do is stay positive, stay strong, fight on and do what all the doctors say to survive. And believe me I will.

Aging/Middle East/Congress/Cancer/Family Stories

I remember when I was a kid, I wanted to be an adult so much it hurt, now I am an adult facing cancer and old age and wish I were a kid again, to do it all over. Amazing isn’t it folks, we all dream that way as kids. We wish we were older so we can attend a movie on our own, or go to a playground alone, or be trusted to use electronic toys on our own, or as when I grew up to want to smoke, run ,galavant, have sex, drink and more. The truth is once you get to try it you rally don’t want it lol, well at least most of it.  As you get older and hit your late fifties like me, all you want is a cup of coffee in the morning, a place to eat breakfast and then to get done what you have to do, and then lay down and rest and sleep. Funny how age takes away all the energy of youth isn’t it?

Wars, policing nations, and the world, why Americans why? We don’t belong in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, or Syria. The Middle East is not a problem from my home here in America, it’s a circus to watch, the explosions and foolishness that happens there. I wonder if the Syrians, Egyptians, Afghans  Iranians, and Iraqis all ever stop to see how stupid fighting among themselves really is, will they ever learn and notice how stupid it is to do? No one wins by killing others, and wars are only a last resort!

Congress is my next rant of the day, Wake the Hell UP! As America moves forward through the next year and the last of President Obama’s second term as President, Congress needs to go back to work and save the U.S. POstal Service, Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security and yes ObamaCare too. They need to get over the fact they lost the election in 2008 these Republicans and move on to do the business we hired them to do. Sadly, they think holding the Government hostage and causing it to stop working is the way to get revenge on the Democrats. Wrong, they are hurting you and me folks, the Veterans, the Disabled, the average American of all races and colors and creeds, people you need to call you congressmen and women and your Senators, tell em get off their dead asses and earn the money we pay them, or get out of office now!

I tell you what, if Congress, a Senator or anyone else in Government wants to trade place with a  disabled Veteran, Handicapped person or an elderly one on Medicaid/ Medicare, Obamacare or any other benefit programs, like Social Security, come see how you can live on less, try it once and you may understand.

Cancer, is my next subject since I have it! I also suffer from six herniated discs in my spine, sleep apnea , stress, tension, depression, and more, yet I don’t run around asking for pity, just medical help from my country I served. I lived through the deaths of other cancer patients in my family. 1971, my grandfather, 1984 my father,1990 my step-father, and 1991 my mother, way back in the early 1970s, I saw a girlfriend get cancer of the ovaries, and then my wife in the 1990s. Now it is my turn to fight it off and do what I can to stay alive and I intend to fight every step of the way damn it!  I refused to just give up and lay down and die, the hell with that shit! So September 3rd, I lose a lobe of my right lung and the tumor I carry too and we shall see what is next. No Surrender I say.

Red LIne/ Memories/Obama

The Red Line has been crossed by Syrian Leader Assad, and his reign must end as must his killing and culling ways. My problem is why is it just America who sees it and has to act at this point? Where are France, England, Spain, Italy and the nations of Europe and the Middle East itself?   Why look at America that is a half-world away to solve a problem in the Middle East, it’s time Jordan, and other nations there get involved and stop him, not us!  Americans have given enough of our own fathers, mothers, sons and daughters to clean the world up, we don’t need it now. Save our money, save our military personnel and our weapons, don’t enter Syria, let someone else clean it up, we can’t afford to be the world’s police force anymore!

Next subject for me! Memories we make them each day and we dream of them each night. We live for them and we die for them, we struggle through the good and bad of them our whole lives. They make us who we are each day and each night and in each circumstance and relationship we live in. Vital to all of us, some of us have lots of good memories and some bad, some have more bad than good, they are what determines our decisions each day in our life. We always look back at the memories to determine our reactions in the present for the future life we want. Just stop and think about it folks, you will find it’s true, for it is those memories in childhood that make us who we are when we grow up and go on our own!. So make good memories for your children, your teens, for they shall inherite the country and world after we are gone!.

One more comment today from me on the world Americans live in and their leader, President Barrack Obama. The first man of color to hold  the Office of President of the United States and he should be extremely proud as should all African Americans, of what he did and is doing for his people and his country of all colors, races and nationalities. He has also proven in his now 5 years in office that it matters not what color your skin, your race, or nationality all age the same under the stress and pressures of being the American President. He has proven that making the decisions necessary for the American People and country as a whole is not easy, simple or for timid people. God Bless him and America and may our course always stay true and free, for all time.

Good vs Bad!/Depleting Earth/ Wars/Cancer

I was asked by a child one day, do the good things really outweigh the bad things in life? I answered by saying depends on which road in life you take! It is true, I guess we all make our own decisions on which way we should go in life. Some of us prefer to go straight and honest through it all and take the good with the bad, others want to cheat the destined path they are given and become evil and or saints, but the average person has both good and bad in life. The question is how do you make sure the good outweighs the bad, well the answer is by honesty, truth, caring, compassion, and in the end loving those around you, no matter what they do or did to you, for they are family and friends. I know it’s not easy, but it is true as I am telling you, believe me.

Time is now moving forward as usual for all of us, wars keep happening, planet resources keep being used up, the atmosphere we live in gets more polluted each day and we carry on, even depleting the fish and creatures of the oceans and polluting it too. Mankind is the only species that works overtime to murder itself, why is that anyone, ever figure that one out let us all know ok!

Talking about wars, pain, suffering and all, Americans have had our own share of it all by now and our little over 200 years as a nation. We fought our own Revolution and won, we Fought our own Civil War and overcame each other, We fought two World Wars freeing others from Germans and Nazis, Then we fought to police Korea and Vietnam, and Afghanistan, Now Egypt, and Syria erupt in war and we watch wondering when Americans will be sent in to end it all. Why? Are we the father country on earth to protect our children, in other nations or the mother nation on the planet? Lets face it Americans we may lead the world in many ways, but do we have to lead in volunteering our people to die in others fights and wars, around the World? No, we shouldn’t stay out, let other nations step in and stop it all, bring our troops, our equipment, home, stop fighting wars for people who hate us and want us dead please!

Well, 8 days from surgery today, soona Doctor will put me to sleep on September 3rd and remove the middle lobe of my right lung due to a  tumor in it. Yes, I am scared the biggest operation I ever have in my 57 years is removal of my appendix at 24. So it’s a major one for me and scarey, but i will hold up and fight through it all, it’s my way. I have never laid back and surrendered for anything important, it’s not in me to quit that easy. So I shall fight on and write more, as I do, God Bless America and all!
