Theraphy and Stories and Facts & WattPad
As I said in a prior blog people suffer PTSD in different ways and deal with it in different ways. My way of dealing with it is to write stories, poems and rants and raves here on my blog and else where.
My stories range from military ones, to love stories, to sci-fi and more, and even poems I have done. I found a new outlet for many of them now on a web site called WattPad.com. WattPad works by allowing people to submit their stories, books, in different lengths or as compiled by the writer and then helps you promote your writings to the world online.
It has become an outlet for many different people from young adults to older folks like myself to express or release the writings they have done over time for different reasons. It works on many different operating systems including android, and windows that I know of. It contains hundreds of thousands of stories, poems, and more and is free to read and submit to, a great outlet indeed for many.
Many of the sites for Writers online help to teach a writer how to write, how to express themselves and each use the knowledge they gather to write in their own styles and ways. Another great Organization and School for writing is Long Ridge Writers here in Connecticut, I took a writing course through them and the editing they do is great and so is the suggestions they give.
My Stories have now shown up on WattPad, and another website called LongStoryShort has published and accepted my works. It is a proud moment when someone finds out what they wrote is good enough for someone to want to show it to others to read. I have poems and Christmas Stories they published.
The therapy writing produces for PTSD and Depression is great for many, it helps ease the pressure, strains, tensions of the conditions, So these websites and writing sites are to be thanked for their abilities to get people to write in general whether they are a victim of Depression, PTSD or any other mental condition or physical one too. I actually look forward to writing my blog here daily and writing other stories and poems and rants and raves too in other places, it is like a relief valve at times on an old steam-powered radiator!. It helps and is fun.
PTSD and Depression
PTSD and Depression
I remember a Doctor told me when I was just discharged from the military, where I served for 16 years, I would need to find something to let my inner feelings out and make it worth my while. I played with woodworking, model building, puzzles, even reading. In the end the one thing which helped me with my disabilities and my PTSD, was writing. To express myself in words on paper or on a computer and then release it to the world to read, helped me deal with my nightmares, from the Service and childhood. We all deal with life’s bad moments in a different way, some of us let it loose in displays of screaming, some in physical violence, some in other ways, but when you know the anger and feelings you carry can hurt either yourself or someone else you love, you find a way to let it out easier and slower.
PTSD contains memories of violence, anger, beatings, pain and yes even deaths of others. The human mind builds its own defense mechanisms, and the person experiencing it all doesn’t understand why it is happening, or how, it just does to them. Fighting nightmares of bad dreams of events of your past, can get you in the end.
So, my way of dealing with the beatings as a child the incidents of action and destruction in the Services and the nightmares of life, is to write some out on paper or computer and then let the world read about and understand it all. Some victims of PTSD, deal with this in many different ways as I said, and they each have their own stories to tell I am sure.
Dealing with experiences from one’s past is the hardest thing in the world to do, they tend to flash back into your mind triggered by events in current times, or people you react to because of the past. Then you react to the situation or person unconsciously and the result can be hurting someone you had no intention of hurting at all or yourself. It also can lead you into depression, opening another dimension of pain and suffering because you blame yourself for what happens or happened and you start to put yourself down. The two link and when they do, can lead to a bad cocktail of mind problems that can kill the patient or those around them. Careful Medication helps and a relief for the pressure and feeling into words on a computer or on paper does it for me.
No I am not a Doctor, but I am a patient, one who suffers from PTSD, flashbacks and nightmares. One who when he does, gets away from all and finds a peaceful place to relax and to calm the mind down.
So to my fellow ex-service members and those suffering today from PTSD, get counselling, get medication, find a way to tell others your stories, your feeling and relieve the pressure in your minds and souls in someway. Write the nightmares down, and let others see them, don’t blame yourself for actions beyond your control at the time they happened. relieve the pressure by writing, reading, puzzles, medication or more, and live in peace once more if you can.
Raves, Rants and me!
Apple The big Computer, Tablet, I Phone, I Pod giant is releasing the new I-Pad today. They are lowering the price on the I-Pad 2 to 399.00 a shot, also. Apple makes the sturdiest computers and I-Pads out there along with the I-pod, I-phone, they have amazing products, that once people get them they want to keep them forever. As Apple goes so goes most of the Computer Manufacturers trying to keep up with them, it’s amazing what APple produces and sells, but the one disappointment is the pricing of these products.
If I could afford a Apple Computer or even an Apple I-Pad I would grab one and run, but they are not priced for average Americans or consumers, they are priced for the upper economic class. All I can do is pray and hope someday I can afford one, but I doubt it will happen for a Disabled Veteran with no job living on Disability Pay, yet everytime I go by the Apple STore in the Mall, I stop in an dstare all amazed at them all.
But like the economy today, prices are rising on gas, food, housing, insurance and more. It’s a struggle to eat, pay your bills and affrod to live never mind the niceities of Apple Products to own and have.
Clothing, Food, Gas, Oil, come first, paying the mortgage comes first or the rent. Medical costs triple on us old Veterans and Disabled ones, as well as retired ones. Yet Congress, and the Leaders in both parties wish to fight over our medical benefits, our Medicade, Medicare, Social Security and even our prescription coverages, for the elderly and disabled. They say they are tired of paying for our benefits, well that is crap too. Those who are lucky enough to get the benefits earned them by paying into Social Security Medicade and Medicare, what right does Congress have to take any of it from us?
I know the question is what does Apple making money have to do with benefits for us elders and disabled folks? Actually not anything at all, like my web blog says I do at times rant and rave and raise hell. But I also know in the end I am usually right about Congress, Washington,DC. what I feel is politically wrong for candidates to say and do is included too.
I rant against bad customer services, I rant against lousy resturants, I rave on Apple and their products but complain about the prices of everything, I know, I know I sound like a raving maniac, but in all truth, I am just a mad American Disabled Veteran watching a political show that should have ended months ago on the Republican side, and watching my dreams and the dreams of millions of Americans go up in smoke as we can not pay our bills and have what the rich have anymore. So yes I rant and rave, yes I scream and shout, yes I dream of what I want and can not have, but, it is my right as a human being, and a Veteran and an American.
In the end my Rants and Raves do not get me anything, not even attention, but it is theraphy for me to do it. I suffer from many injuries, six bad discs in my spine from the service days, PTSD, Sleep Apenea, and more, I have survived 16 years service, and two TIA Heart Attacks and I still survive. So yes if I rant crazy at times I am allowed, as long as I hurt no one.
Customer Service/ My Ass!
Customer Service/ My Ass!
Personally I have no idea if I am like many people or an abnormality in my own right when I avoid certain places, for my own reasons. Many of us go shopping and don’t think about customers services and false promises at all, we just buy what we want and run out the door. Amazingly. for most people this works just fine and you don’t care what the store employees think or how they act toward you, with me I do.
A couple of stores are on my never to shop there list, for the above reason, and more. One is Walgreen Pharmacy, because they care not about their employees, nor do they train them in any way before sticking them out on the floor to stock and sell product. Then when an employee does something wrong to a customer due to stress or because they know not what to do, they fire the employee, I know more than one employee this has happened with.
The second store on my no shopping list is now Staples. Staples is everywhere and many people use this store to buy electronics, because they are readily available for purchase there. Then on top of buying the product, they give you information about the product and ask you to buy their warranties, for the products they sell. While this is great, the fact remains they do not back up their own warranty, nor will they take back their product within the warranties time limits. they refuse it. It doesn’t matter what you return a product for, if it is past the two-week buying warranty they won’t take it back. The employees are rude, unknowledgeable regarding the products, for instance I saw a woman who brought back a laptop computer and a so-called technician opening it up to check the hard drive, she couldn’t find it. Laptops come with two places the hard drives are in not one. Ah well, some think they know it all and it is the same with Staples. The General Manager was called over to handle my return and out right refused to take the product back even though I was told at purchase I could return it at any time during the two-year warranty. His explanation, if the employee who told me that when they sold me the item, lied and didn’t know what he was doing and he was demoted because of it. I care not, for if you sell someone a warranty with your name on it and don’t back it, well your worthless in my opinion as a company and store.
The rudeness and stupidity of these General Managers and store employees is a common thing in American Stores and Shopping Malls. Sadly, no one trains an employee to be patient, understanding and knowledgable, nor, do they all back their own return policies and warranties. Then we hear about companies on their way out, and wonder why?
Best Buy is located not near me, but a ways up the road. I used to like to go into Best Buy and look around, explore the computers, televisions and games there and see if any were on sale. But do so now and you will find fewer employees in a Best Buy, and no real help from them. They can’t be found because they are overloaded placing stock on shelves and on the floor. When you do try to find an employee to answer your question on a product, they usually know very little about the product, but they will try to sell you a product they do know, lol. Whats wrong with that picture huh, silly right!. But that is the way customer service is taught to people, so they all lose customers and wonder why they can’t stay in business. While I agree there is some stress and tension to selling, and working in a retail environment, there is no reason for rudeness like I encountered in these stores. You want customers, you better teach patience, manners and give the employees knowledge on the products and not to be pushy or impolite.
Shopping for many, is an experience we do out of necessary reasoning. We need something for our loved ones or ourselves or our homes. If you want to sell it to us fine, but don’t do so in an impolite, rude manner nor should you not back your own warranties.
Republican Disgrace !!!!
Republican Disgrace !!!!
Slowly the Republican Primary slogs along down the path to their convention. Mitt Romney still is the delegate leader no matter what others may want to say or hope for. All Mitt Romney needs to do is relax, be himself, use his wife, and answer questions honestly and openly. Do not Mitt, stand up there and be phony, fake or impolite, nor try to be someone you are not. As soon as you try to force yourself into a position, or stance you don’t really believe in, it crumbles around your ears. Be Mitt Romney, and slow down when you’re talking some and think before you speak. If you do that, speak jobs, the economy and how to turn it all around you will be fine. One other thing you need to do Mitt is, take the stick out of your ass and stop acting like a rich little bitch and show you care for all the people not just the rich. Stop being negative against your opponents and try some positive advertising for positions and issues you believe in.
Rick Santorum deserves congratulations for his Victories in Mississippi and Alabama last night, he put on an impressive show of popularity for sure. He runs on Social Agendas, that each state thinks is important to it. He appeals to the sensibilities of these poor states and their people. But if Alabama and Mississippi both stopped to think what they were really voting for they would run from Santorum and his religious and social views. Sadly, the people do not understand what they will really get if Santorum is elected or gets the Nomination., Santorum needs to explain his opposition to Romney getting the nomination to the people.
Newt Gingrich, come on now Newt you are a Southern boy who had plenty of support when you represented Georgia in the House, but lets face it if all you can win is Georgia and South Carolina at this stage, this many states into the race for the Nomination it is indeed time to step out of this race. The same can be said of Newt here that I have said of Santorum in the end, why do you oppose Mitt Romney getting the Republican Party Nomination so hard? What did Romney do to you or the party?
The last candidate is Ron Paul who is overlooked in last nights, primary contests because he didn’t win a thing and came in fourth in all of them. God Bless Ron Paul for standing up and running at his age and his spirit is strong. The rest of the Candidates should just tell Ron, hey you can have your say at the convention we will listen to you, you need to step aside nicely now and go home to Texas and relax.
As the numbers come in and change it is apparent that the Republicans don’t want to give their nomination to Mitt Romney, what isn’t clear is exactly why?. When you look at the polls and his comparisons to President Obama no Republican compares better, nor shows they can run with Obama period, better than Romney. The resistance in this case is baffling to many people across the land. Someone please come out with a straight answer here, as to why the Republican Party is so damn sure it doesn’t want Romney as the Nominee, please! Just explain it to America in english and we shall see what we can do, seriously, the man has one hell of a delegate lead you know.
As 2012 continues on its path towards the November General Election, do these Republican Candidates realize how much ammunition they are giving the Democrats and how much time and money they are wasting fighting each other? The advantage of the Democrats is showing fully at this time, after millions upon millions of dollars spent on negative ads against each other, these Republicans don’t realize the fact of President Obama still sailing smoothly to his Nomination. The Power of the Incumbant alone is enough to give President Obama a leg up in this election , period.
It makes one wonder, how much longer can Santorum, Gingrich and Paul actually keep pushing at Romney and why they are so damn concerned with him winning the Nomination, that they are blind to the fact, they are killing the Republican Chances in the General Election. Anger and bitter squabbles are stupid when picking a Presidential Candidate, wake up Republicans the time to unite is here. In the end, come November, if you Republicans don’t get your shit together in one sock and back one candidate soon, you might as well throw all the contributions and money out the windows and give up now. You can’t win an Election for president if you can’t even get behind one person for the Nomination, can you? It’s sad state for a political party to be in, fighting and arguing like kids in a playground over who shall be the leader, who will get beat in the end anyway, isn’t it? Mrs. Bush, said it best, this whole primary process for the Republican Party is a walking joke and disgrace to the Republican Party and it’s members.
